Dr. Nwankwo is a physical medicine & rehabilitation (PM&R) resident at Baylor College of Medicine and plans to pursue a pain medicine fellowship. She completed the combined BA/MD program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine, earning a degree in biology and chemistry, and graduating with departmental distinction in academic excellence from the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences.
Throughout her training, Dr. Nwankwo has been an active clinical researcher and presenter. She has delivered posters and podium presentations at the Texas Pain Society Annual Meeting and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP) conference, exploring topics such as combination closed-loop and dorsal root ganglion stimulation for cancer-related pain, scrambler therapy for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and temporary peripheral nerve stimulation for greater occipital neuralgia. She also serves as Co-Investigator on a multicenter trial evaluating novel neuromodulation devices in oncology rehabilitation.
As a mentor, Dr. Nwankwo specializes in an individualized coaching style, helping students at every step of the research process. Dr. Nwankwo is deeply passionate about equity in medicine and empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders through thoughtful, strategic guidance.
