Charles’ academic achievements reflect his interdisciplinary approach to medicine and education. At USC, he received the Presidential Scholarship and graduated with Renaissance Scholar distinction in recognition of his excellence across multiple fields of study. He has also pursued research in environmental pollution and oxidative stress, public health perceptions of food allergies, and health humanities, including scholarship presented at the New York Conference of Asian Studies and published in Synapsis: A Health Humanities Journal.
Charles has developed extensive experience teaching students from diverse academic backgrounds. He has worked as an SAT, ACT, and MCAT instructor, helping students strengthen their content knowledge and develop the critical thinking and test-taking strategies necessary for success. Through the Keck PREP Scholars Program, Charles served as an MCAT and STEM tutor, instructing college underclassmen in physics, health statistics, chemistry, biology, and MCAT prep with a focus on CARS.
As a tutor, Charles emphasizes deliberate practice, thoughtful review, and efficient study strategies over passive memorization. He views practice questions as one of the most effective tools for learning and developing clinical reasoning. He believes that every student learns differently and works collaboratively with them to identify the strategies that best fit their goals, learning style, and areas for growth. Known for his straightforward, honest communication, Charles strives to help students build lasting learning habits that extend far beyond the MCAT and prepare them for future success in medical school.
