How Our Pre-Med Admissions Consulting Program Works

image of pre health advising program

Conduct a comprehensive background analysis

The first step is to understand your experiences, goals, and learning style so that we can pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses. We ask you to fill out our proprietary intake form, followed by an in-depth discussion with a pre-med advisor. These pre-med consultants are experts who’ve attended the best med schools in the country and have helped hundreds of candidates get accepted at top schools.

Prepare A Customized Advising Plan

After your pre-med counselor understands your goals, shortcomings, and needs, they collaborate with you to create a tailored action plan. This includes tactical activities such as what academic courses to take, which research experiences to seek, what extracurricular activities to participate in, and much more.

Ensure Execution Through Regular Check-Ins

Through regular video and email check-ins, your consultant makes sure they are always there for you. Your pre-med consultant, who has been there and done that, can also brainstorm how to reach out to a professor you want to work with over the summer or send a cold email to a doctor who you’d like to shadow.

Refine Your Plan

Academic plans, interests, and personal circumstances change. We understand that and make sure your pre-med advising plan always reflects your latest needs and goals. We are happy to talk through how your experience in the drama club might factor into your application, or your passion for traveling can be incorporated into your med school persona. Our goal is to always be nimble, available, and informed.

You are ready to apply to med school

The rigorous, targeted prep that you have gone through gives you a leg up against your peers. Being deliberate about each aspect of your pre-med experience helps create self-awareness, which translates to a compelling narrative and effective application documents. Congratulations, you are now ready to conquer the med school application process!

FAQ's

image of arrow down

I already have a pre-med admissions advisor at my college. How is this service different from what they provide?

Many colleges and universities have pre-med advisors and additional resources for pre-med students, but the following structural issues are very prevalent:

  • Not enough advisors: Unfortunately, most colleges and universities don’t have enough resources to hire the number of pre-medical advisors needed to offer personalized service to students. Pre-med consultants are usually well-meaning, but they can’t do much if the advisor-to-student ratio is 1:200 or more.
  • Quality is often lacking: Colleges and universities don’t have the resources to hire physicians, med school students, residents, or MDs from top schools. Our team consists of people who have been through the med school admissions process and successfully cracked it by getting into a top school. They have served on admissions committees and know what it’s like to be in med school. Their advice is personalized, informed, and relevant.
  • Not enough personalization: Pre-med advisors aren’t able to create long-term personalized plans for their advisees. Every student goes through ups and downs during their college career. For example, you might not be able to register for a course you wanted to do. Or, it’s junior year, and you just realized that you’re interested in drama, and now you want to join the drama club. Adapting to these changes requires an in-depth understanding of a student’s background and preferences.

We help bridge some of these gaps that exist in today’s pre-med advising infrastructure by providing informed, customized, and in-depth support. You can think of us as a more informed, customized, and in-depth pre-med consulting service. Our advisors are accomplished, knowledgeable, and passionate about mentoring and guiding you. They have faced some of the same dilemmas that you are facing. Most importantly, they aren’t working with hundreds of students and can give you the personalized attention you need and deserve.

Why would I need a structured advising plan like the one you offer?

Applying to med school is akin to running a marathon. Doing well requires a lot of upfront preparation. Your success on race day will be determined by the years of effort you’ve put into being prepared for race day.

Similarly, medical schools look at what you’ve done over the last few years. They want to see how you’ve grown not just as a student but also as a leader and what makes you uniquely positioned to succeed in med school.

In addition to these more variable tasks, there are must-haves, such as getting a good MCAT score and engaging the right recommenders at the right time.

You might be among the 36% of MCAT takers who have to take the test more than once. Or, you might realize that someone you thought might be your recommender isn’t a great fit anymore. The pre-med path is undoubtedly challenging! Structured advising can streamline the process and help ensure you’re always on top of your prep. We help you execute your plan A and create a plan B so that there are no surprises if something doesn’t go as planned.

Who will be my private pre-medical admissions expert?

We connect you with your advisor based on your experience, interests, and goals. Our pre-med admissions consulting service comprises physicians, graduates of top medical schools, and former admissions committee members who know what a top med school looks for.

For our pre-med consulting service to be effective, it is important that your advisor is able to relate to your academic experience and co-curricular interests. We make sure that we pair you with the right person after you fill out your intake form.

Should I choose your Pre-Med Consulting program, or wait to use the Complete End-to-End Application Support when I’m ready to apply to med school?

Attending the right med school can be life-changing. It can set you on course to get into the right residency program and, eventually, help you specialize in a field that genuinely interests you. Also, not getting into one of your top-choice schools can be extremely costly. Reapplying is stressful, and it also delays your entry into the workforce. This can easily translate to lost income of $150,000 or more, depending on your specialty.

Given that getting into the right med school is such a high-stakes decision, it is advisable to start preparing early. Our End-to-End Application Support service can help you craft an amazing application, but it cannot make you go back in time to fill potential gaps in your profile. We would recommend using this service if you want to be sure that all your i’s are dotted, and t’s are crossed before you apply to med school.

Will my pre-med advisor be the only person I interact with during the Pre-Med Coaching service?

Your advisor will be the person you work with. This helps us streamline communication and make sure that you have a clear point of contact who can help you make decisions. However, there is an army of people whose expertise you can leverage.

When you start working with us, you will be assigned a Project Manager in addition to your advisor. This Project Manager will make sure that your engagement is on track at all times. They will be there if you and your advisor require any additional resources from the Inspira network.

We have a vast network of researchers, medical school admissions experts, and alumni who provide in-depth information about how med school admissions are changing and what you can do to stay relevant. You get to leverage our entire team’s expertise by gaining access to this research.

Will you change my consultant if I’m not happy with them?

It is imperative that you and your Coach have a strong rapport with each other. Not being able to build a strong relationship can have an adverse impact on your medical school application outcomes.

However, it is also important to acknowledge that this relationship is not built overnight. It takes time for your Coach to get to know and vice versa. Hence, we don’t want to prematurely undo any progress that has been made. That being said, getting results for you and making sure you are happy with our service is what matters most to us.

We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that happens, and if that means we need to change your Coach, we will not hesitate to do so. If you feel that we are not meeting your expectations, please email our CEO at ceo@inpisraadvantage.com and someone from the CEO’s office will reach out to you within 48 hours.

What is the duration of this program? Is there any flexibility for when I can use this?

This program is tailored to your needs. Some students want to use our support across nine months whereas some want to use it across twelve months. Many prospects who are planning to apply in two years purchase this service twice. Schedule a call to learn more about how this service can be customized for your needs.

Will my Graduate Coach be the only person I interact with during the Pre Health Advising service?

Your Graduate Coach will be the person you work with. This helps us streamline communication and make sure that you have a clear point of contact who can help you make decisions. However, there is an army of people whose expertise you can leverage.

When you start working with us, you will be assigned a Project Manager in addition to your Graduate Coach. This Project Manager will make sure that your engagement is on track at all times. They will be there if you and your Coach require any additional resources from the Inspira network.

We have a vast network of researchers, former admissions committee members, and alumni who provide us in-depth information about how med school admissions are changing and what you can do to stay relevant. You get to leverage our entire team’s expertise by gaining access to this research.

What will my communication be like with my Coach?

After you fill out our intake form, we will connect with the Graduate Coach whose experience and expertise are the best fit for your background, goals, and experiences. Your Coach will set up a kickoff meeting with you to plan the engagement. They will work with you to determine concrete activities and tasks that you can start working towards.

After that, you and your Coach will have a video call every quarter to assess progress and realign goals and targets. They will work with you to solve any problems you are facing in achieving your goals. You will also have unlimited access to them via email.

image of arrow down

What if I want to schedule more calls about my Pre Health Advising plan with my Graduate Coach?

We have streamlined the Pre Health Advising process through years of iterations. Calls with your Graduate Coach are supposed to help you set strategic direction and decide what activities to focus on. The next step is to execute the strategy.

If we are having to change our strategic plan every one to two weeks, something is not right. It takes time to get a research position once you decide what type of position you want. Deciding that you want to shadow a physician is an important step in the direction. However, the next step is to get that position.

We help you through each step, but emails are more efficient for some things. For example, if you want your Coach’s help on drafting a cold outreach template for a physician that you want to shadow, that can happen over email.

We believe that having four calls across the duration of the year is the right number.

Last but not the least, it is worth reminding ourselves of Parkinson’s Law at that point which states doing something will take as much time as you give it. We will never shortchange you, but we also want to make sure both you and your Coach’s time are utilized to the fullest.

image of arrow down

Is my Coach also going to be my MCAT tutor?

Your Coach is great at a lot of things. In addition to helping you build your profile, they will work with you to think through MCAT prep strategies, provide feedback on your strategy, and share expertise on the resources you are planning to use.

However, tutoring is a very different type of engagement that requires your tutor to go into granular detail about where you need help. If you are looking for help with specific aspects of your MCAT prep, please check out our MCAT tutoring service .

Is helping me prep for medical school my Graduate Coach’s only responsibility?

Helping you get accepted to your dream medical school is your Graduate Coach’s top responsibility. However, the Coaching that they provide is about a lot more than that. It helps candidates identify academic and extracurricular activities they should participate in.

This makes the process extremely rewarding and enables candidates to grow as people and as professionals. Over 95% of candidates participating in this program have stated that they have felt more confident, less stressed, and have gotten better at problem solving after working with their Coach.
