Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Benjamin began her academic journey with a BS in animal and poultry sciences from Tuskegee University. She holds a DVM from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she also earned a Master’s in veterinary science, focusing on immunology and pathobiology. During her graduate studies, she collaborated with the USDA’s Aquatic Animal Health Research division, further cementing her foundation in public health and veterinary research. A passionate and highly experienced veterinarian, Dr. Benjamin is committed to exceptional care for her patients and the aspiring professionals she mentors.

Dr. Benjamin began her post-graduate career with the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service as a Supervisory Public Health Veterinarian. In this role, she conducted inspections, led foreign animal disease surveillance efforts, enforced animal welfare laws, and upheld federal inspection procedures. She later transitioned into small animal practice, initially as a relief veterinarian and ultimately as a full-time clinician, where she cultivated her hallmark approach to building strong, trust-based relationships between pets, their families, and veterinary care teams.

Dr. Benjamin served as Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital for five years, where she skillfully guided teams and streamlined clinical operations. She went on to serve as an associate veterinarian at Abby Pet Hospital and currently works as the Medical Director of Westchester Veterinary Center & Cat Clinic, combining her clinical expertise with strong managerial acumen. Dr. Benjamin is very passionate about delivering high-quality veterinary care, improving animal health and welfare, and supporting the veterinary community.

Dr. Benjamin has core competencies in preventative health, emergency, oncology, and surgery, as well as attention to detail, professional skills, and professional communication. Her approach to consulting is flexible and advisory, allowing her to adapt to changes and gently guide students toward crafting the best vet school application possible. She is a patient and friendly counselor, ready to help students get accepted to their dream schools. 

Dr. Colman earned a BS degree in animal science and music, a DVM, and an MPH  from the University of Florida, making him a proud "triple Gator." During his veterinary education, Dr. Colman received numerous accolades, including the Dr. Paul Nicoletti Scholarship, JE Salisbury Scholarship, Intervet Schering Plough Internal Medicine Patient Care Award, Florida Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship, and the American College of Veterinary Medicine Clinical Excellence Award. He was also selected for a prestigious internship with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Colman's professional journey began in his youth in South Florida, where he volunteered and worked in veterinary clinics throughout his formative years. Before veterinary school, he gained valuable experience at veterinary programs at the  University of Florida and Tufts University. His career spans over 12 years of clinical practice in both general and emergency veterinary medicine across Florida and Georgia, including positions as associate veterinarian at Countryside Animal Hospital, Lead Veterinarian at Pharr Road Animal Hospital, and currently as Medical Director at Veterinary Emergency Group in South Florida. As Medical Director, Dr. Colman mentors veterinary students, new veterinary graduates and leads a team of dedicated doctors and nurses.

With clinical interests in emergency medicine and surgery, point-of-care ultrasound, endoscopy, pain management, toxicology, and ophthalmology, Dr. Colman brings a comprehensive skill set to his practice. He has made several media appearances on The Weather Channel and WSB-TV Atlanta Channel 2, discussing topics such as seasonal allergies in pets, tick-related concerns, and COVID-19's impact on animals.

Dr. Colman is a firm believer in the human-animal bond and is known for his compassionate, detail-oriented approach to patient care. He values education and communication, empowering pet owners to make informed decisions during critical moments. His ability to balance clinical excellence with empathy defines his work both in and out of the ER.

As an admissions counselor, Dr. Colman brings a wealth of experience and an insider’s perspective, having served on the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine admissions interview committee for several years. His mentorship is characterized by a deep commitment to each student’s individuality. 

Dr. Colman takes a personalized, student-centered approach—getting to know applicants beyond their resumes and helping them develop compelling, authentic narratives that reflect their unique paths to veterinary medicine. He works closely with students, ensuring tailored guidance and thoughtful, strategic support throughout the application process. His greatest strengths lie in his ability to identify a student’s key attributes, craft standout application materials, and provide mentorship through every stage of their journey.

Dr. Mishkin graduated with a BA in biology from Ithaca College. Following a non-traditional path to veterinary medicine, he dedicated seven years to technical and managerial roles in laboratory animal care at Memorial Sloan Kettering, where he honed his leadership skills by guiding numerous staff members from diverse backgrounds through professional certifications. This experience solidified his commitment to veterinary medicine before pursuing a DVM degree at Colorado State University. 

During his veterinary studies, Dr. Mishkin held positions as a National Institutes of Health Fellowship Trainee and a student research assistant in Colorado State University’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology. He received several accolades, including the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP) Senior Student Award, the David Adams Memorial Scholarship, the Roberta Ann Hartman Memorial Scholarship, and an ASLAP Summer Fellowship at Cornell.

Upon completing his DVM, Dr. Mishkin undertook rigorous postdoctoral training as a veterinary fellow through the prestigious Tri-Institutional Training Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine and Science (Tri-I). He is an accomplished researcher with three first-author publications and co-authorship on six additional papers, primarily focusing on Chlamydia muridarum in research mice. He also serves as a tutor for first-year Cornell veterinary students in their problem-based learning curriculum, maintaining long-term supportive relationships with mentees.

Dr. Mishkin possesses significant insight into the admissions process, drawing from four years of experience serving on residency selection committees at both Tri-I and CARE, and participating in the decision-making process. He brings insight, empathy, and strategy to every applicant he supports. With a decade of coaching and mentorship experience, Dr. Mishkin is passionate about helping prospective veterinary students articulate their unique stories and strengthen their applications.

Dr. Aziz graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing a DVM at Tufts. She received multiple scholarships during her undergraduate studies and a four-year scholarship for veterinary school.  

Dr. Aziz completed an internship at the ASPCA Animal Hospital before securing the only shelter medicine residency available in the U.S. at the time through UC Davis' Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Her impressive career trajectory includes roles as an outreach veterinarian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Shelter Medicine Program, Medical Director at the Austin Humane Society, and Senior Director of Shelter Medicine at the ASPCA. Dr. Aziz currently serves as an outreach veterinarian at UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. 

As one of only 37 board-certified shelter medicine specialists in the country, Dr. Aziz has become a leader in advancing the field, speaking internationally from Alaska to Bhutan, and contributing to research, guidelines, and textbook chapters on topics ranging from feline wellbeing to veterinary vaccinology. She served on the Association of Shelter Veterinarians' board for five years, completing her term as Board President. Her professional interests include supporting shelters in keeping pets and families together, managing infectious disease outbreaks, and performing spay/neuter surgery. 

Dr. Aziz’s current work as a UC Davis shelter medicine consultant emphasizes creating collaborative, client-focused solutions for shelters and communities. Her approach prioritizes open dialogue and tailored support, whether she’s advising shelter staff, policymakers, or neighborhood volunteers. 

Beyond her professional roles, Dr. Aziz dedicates significant time to mentoring college students, guiding them through veterinary school applications and balancing academics with personal challenges, and securing unique hands-on veterinary experiences. Her insights into admissions criteria inform her mentorship, as she emphasizes the importance of both clinical competencies and interpersonal skills valued by veterinary programs. Dr. Aziz’s goal for each student is to empower them to recognize and hone their strengths while building the confidence needed to overcome any challenges they face.

Like many, Dr. McKinney’s desire to become a veterinarian began early in life. For most of his education, he wanted to follow a traditional veterinary path and become a small animal veterinarian at his local private practice. Not until vet school did he discover his true passion: “non-traditional” veterinary medicine.

During vet school, he took numerous electives in exotic animal care, laboratory animal medicine, and zoo and wildlife conservation. Dr. McKinney received innumerable scholarships at Ohio State, including the Veterinary Medicine Alumni Scholarship and the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship. He was also inducted into the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honors Society and received the Foster Award for Academic Excellence in Laboratory Animal Medicine. After vet school, the drive to learn more about these fields led him to a two-year residency in laboratory animal medicine and, ultimately, board certification.

As a lab animal veterinarian, Dr. McKinney’s passion for exotic animal species is balanced with his love for biomedical research. As the son of a type 1 diabetic, he understands the value of advancing medicine and producing high-quality research. Furthermore, as a veterinarian, he ensures the quality of this research by using his skills and expertise to ensure that animal health and welfare are held to the highest standards.

Dr. McKinney regularly mentors pre-veterinary students from many backgrounds through his growing outreach program. His approach to coaching is centered on collaboration and, most importantly, teamwork. He focuses on truly understanding each student’s goals and aspirations within veterinary medicine. In this approach, he brings out the incredible passion that all pre-vet students have. 

What sets Dr. McKinney apart as a consultant is how he helps students share their passion. Whether writing a personal statement, sharing work experiences, or preparing for an interview, Dr. McKinney helps students find their voice in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Yuschenkoff's journey in veterinary medicine began in her childhood home just blocks from the San Francisco Zoo, where weekly family "safaris" and high school volunteer work sparked her enduring passion for animal care. This early interest led her to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she earned an undergraduate degree in biology. During her undergraduate summers, Dr. Yuschenkoff expanded her experience by volunteering at the Oakland Zoo, the Boston Science Museum, and a wildlife rehabilitation center. She also researched the reproductive patterns of Golden Spiny mice in Israel.

Following her undergraduate studies, Dr. Yuschenkoff returned to California to attend UC Davis for veterinary school,  graduating with a DVM. During her time at UC Davis, she distinguished herself as a campus leader, participating in the Professional Concentration and Leadership Class, serving as a veterinary school tour guide, and mentoring first-year students during orientation. Her dedication to excellence earned her multiple scholarships and awards, including the Clark Client Communication Award, the Christine Parker Marino Memorial Wildlife Health Scholarship, Dr. Robert H. Baker Endowed Scholarship, the Wackie Arnold Scholarship, and the Dr. Viki Krade Memorial Feline Medicine Award.

Dr. Yuschenkoff's postgraduate training began with a small animal rotating internship at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, followed by a specialized internship in zoological medicine at the Phoenix Zoo. She then completed a prestigious residency in zoological medicine at the Oklahoma City Zoo, culminating in her board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine (DACZM), the highest certification available for zoo veterinarians. Throughout her training, Dr. Yuschenkoff also gained valuable experience as a contract veterinarian at San Francisco Zoo and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and as an associate veterinarian at Groveway Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Yuschenkoff maintains an active presence in the scientific community through her Research Gate profile and continues to contribute to the field of zoological medicine.

Currently serving as an associate veterinarian at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Dr. Yuschenkoff has built an impressive research portfolio, conducting studies on copper hepatopathy in sugar gliders, tramadol pharmacokinetics in Galapagos tortoises, mortality causes in Kirk's dik-diks, and blood gas values in ferrets. Her accomplishments have been recognized through features in the UC Davis alumni spotlight and an article in Visit OKC, highlighting her achievement as a board-certified zoo veterinarian.

With extensive experience, Dr. Yuschenkoff brings a comprehensive understanding of opportunities available to aspiring veterinarians. She has a demonstrated passion for education and mentorship and has coached students who have gained acceptance to veterinary programs, including the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine and Ross School of Veterinary Medicine. She is committed to helping others launch rewarding careers in veterinary medicine through end-to-end application support, interview preparation, waitlist strategy, and early candidacy development for undergraduate students at all levels.

Dr. Seger pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinary researcher at Kansas State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in animal sciences and industry with an equine certificate. She was accepted into Kansas State’s Early Admission Program to veterinary school during her undergraduate studies.

While pursuing her DVM, she was accepted into a dual-degree program and completed a PhD in diagnostic medicine and pathobiology. Her dissertation focused on contact network and agent-based modeling approaches for quantifying E. coli transmission in commercial U.S. feedlot systems. During her graduate programs, Dr. Seger also participated in multiple externships at the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, working on both the CDC teams for Rabies and enteric zoonotic disease outbreaks. 

In addition to her research pursuits, Dr. Seger is deeply committed to supporting individuals on their paths to veterinary school, graduate programs, or dual-degree tracks. During her own academic journey, the guidance of mentors and professionals played a pivotal role in her success. She inspires to pay it forward by helping students find their own path in this diverse profession. She takes a holistic approach to admissions counseling, thoughtfully considering each student’s background, goals, and vision for their future. Dr. Seger believes every applicant brings unique experiences that have prepared them for a career in veterinary medicine, and she is dedicated to providing steady, compassionate guidance through the challenges of the application process and beyond.

As a coach, Dr. Seger excels at helping students craft standout personal statements and prepare for interviews. She uses her unique experiences and insight to help students find their best-fit programs. She also has a passion for helping those students with low GPAs, as she is a strong candidate for well-rounded veterinarians being more than just their academic performance prior to veterinary school. Dr. Seger’s passion for making meaningful research impacts on animal diseases of human importance and her commitment to delivering exceptional patient care make her an exceptional resource for those pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Seal graduated with a BS in biology from DePauw University before attending Ohio State University, where she earned an MPH and DVM as a U.S. Army Health Professions Scholar. Most recently, she expanded her expertise with a graduate certificate in global health. As a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, she has also mentored others in preparing for this challenging board exam.

During her military service, Dr. Seal completed three levels of the army's resiliency training created by the University of Pennsylvania. She continues to share these valuable skills to improve well-being among veterinary professionals, emphasizing the importance of work-life balance without compromising career progression. While serving, she provided quality care and support to military working dogs, wildlife, and livestock, as well as public health and food safety services to human personnel. 

Dr. Seal’s strong academic background has helped her pursue her passion for advancing animal and human health across borders and cultures. She has participated in multiple global health initiatives and projects, such as conducting disease surveillance, delivering health education, and facilitating partnerships with local communities and organizations. She currently works as a veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital.

As a coach, Dr. Seal's approach is characterized by honesty, constructiveness, and a genuine desire to help applicants succeed. She believes in highlighting each applicant's uniqueness, passion, and drive, demonstrating how they can be an asset to both the veterinary school program and the profession as a whole. Dr. Seal offers candid yet supportive guidance, always prioritizing transparency with her clients. Dr. Winn holds a Bachelor’s degree in laboratory animal science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Master's degree in animal science from Auburn University. She graduated with a DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, completing her clinical year at Ohio State University. Dr. Winn also completed residency training in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the NYU-Regeneron postdoctoral training program. Additionally, she has spent two years working as a clinical veterinarian at Georgetown University. She has experience with various species, including rodents, rabbits, ferrets, pigs, and non-human primates. Her background includes working with animal models used to study immunology, infectious disease, behavior, and neurobiology.

Dr. Winn enjoys training and educating staff with varying levels of experience in veterinary medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, she collaborated with Ross University to guide potential applicants and incoming students, offering advice on living abroad, navigating the application process, adjusting to life in St. Kitts, and managing a rigorous veterinary school schedule. She has also served on the NYU-Regeneron LAM Residency interview committee and currently interviews prospective veterinary technicians and managers at Georgetown University. These experiences have equipped her to be an excellent admissions counselor.

Dr. Winn is passionate about guiding applicants through veterinary school admissions and lab animal medicine residency programs, helping them achieve their goals and build successful careers. As a coach, she excels at creating structured task timelines that anticipate potential delays, streamlining the complex application process. Dr. Winn is highly analytical, using evidence-based methods to help students refine their approach while remaining approachable and creating a relaxed, conversational atmosphere to ensure every student feels supported. She invests time in understanding each student on a deeper level to address their concerns, identify their weaknesses, and highlight their strengths. 

Dr. Cangemi earned a bachelor's degree in animal science with honors from the University of California, Davis, followed by a DVM from the University of Minnesota. During vet school, she distinguished herself as a board member of the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), advocating for inclusive opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. She also gained valuable experience working at a small animal in-home clinic and as an overnight technician at the University of Minnesota while actively contributing to the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA).

After graduating, Dr. Cangemi pursued a specialty internship focused on equine medicine at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services, eventually joining the practice as an associate veterinarian. Her dedication to integrative veterinary care led her to become certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Curacore School of Acupuncture. Beyond her clinical practice, she also served on the University of Minnesota's interview panel and excels as the internship coordinator at her current practice.

Dr. Cangemi has extensive leadership experience, having managed teams at both the UC Davis Equestrian Center and the Large Animal Surgical Research Facility. She is known for her positive, supportive attitude, dedicated focus on detail and organization, and genuine desire to help others reach their goals.

Dr. Cangemi is deeply passionate about guiding veterinarians and students, believing in the importance of nurturing their professional and personal growth within the veterinary community. With 10 years of mentoring experience, her coaching skills include helping students unlock their strengths during interviews, craft clear and compelling personal statements, and navigate professional situations with confidence.

As a coach, Dr. Cangemi excels at identifying students’ strengths and drawing out what makes them truly unique. She believes the best interviews are those where the applicant's passion and excitement shine through, and she loves bringing that joy out in students. While the application process can be stressful, she ensures there is also an element of joy and fun, helping students approach it with confidence and enthusiasm.

Dr. Hoareau graduated with a DVM from Toulouse National Veterinary School in France before completing a highly competitive internship in medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He then pursued a residency in emergency and critical care at the University of California, Davis, where he later earned a Ph.D. in integrative pathobiology. Dr. Hoareau is board certified by both the American and European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, and is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Hoareau has a wealth of experience in both veterinary and medical fields, having served on two admissions committees and mentored numerous candidates into veterinary and medical schools. Dr. Hoareau also has extensive expertise in basic and translational research. As an Associate Professor, he directs translational research in the Department of Emergency Medicine and serves as an investigator at the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI). His research focuses on hemorrhagic shock, cardiac arrest, and mitochondrial pathobiology to develop novel interventions to improve survival from acute and critical illnesses in humans and pets. 

Dr. Hoareau’s research has been recognized through various prestigious awards and grants, including the Clinician Scientist Fellow Award from the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, UC Davis Research and Education in Advanced Clinical Health (REACH) Award, UC Davis William Pritchard Award, and the CASODOM Award, combining clinical expertise with a dedication to improving veterinary practices and outcomes.

During his Ph.D., Dr. Hoareau served as a clinical attending at UC Davis' prestigious Emergency and Critical Care Service, where he trained veterinary interns and residents in one of the top-ranked veterinary emergency programs in the world.

Dr. Hoareau's passion for coaching applicants is rooted in his dedication to nurturing the next generation of professionals in the veterinary and medical fields. He believes in the transformative power of education and mentorship and has witnessed the impact personalized guidance can have on an individual's career trajectory.

Dr. Hoareau specializes in helping candidates break down the application process into manageable steps, making it more approachable and less daunting. Dr. Bartholomew's journey began at Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in agriculture (animal sciences) with a minor in neuroscience, graduating magna cum laude with Honors Research Distinction. She was involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including serving as Vice President and President of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association, tutoring and advising students, and participating in two international research internships. One took place in South Africa, where she worked with great white sharks, seals, dolphins, and other cetaceans, and the other took place in South America, where she provided spay/neuter and other veterinary wellness services to underserved communities. She also received the CFAES Outstanding Senior Award and was an American Society of Animal Sciences Undergraduate Scholar.

At Ohio State's veterinary school, Dr. Bartholomew demonstrated her leadership through roles such as President of her class, participation in student organizations, and involvement in research culminating in a first-author publication. She received the SAVMA Senior Service Award and the Gertrude Hoeger Award in Clinical Biomedical Research. She was an active member of organizations, such as VCA, VIDA, and VetPrep, where she interviewed candidates and participated in new student orientation.

Dr. Bartholomew’s passion for leadership and service continued with a nomination to attend the Veterinary Leadership Institute’s Veterinary Leadership Experience (VLE), an organization dedicated to facilitating the growth of servant leaders within the veterinary profession. With a passion for travel and service, Dr. Bartholomew went to Thailand to study elephants and their cultural importance to the country.

After graduating magna cum laude with her DVM, Dr. Bartholomew pursued mixed animal practice in rural Pennsylvania and participated as a veterinarian for the Willow 300 Sled Dog Race. She has also written a chapter for the Five Minute Consult and continues to participate in Ohio State's file review process and the Veterinary Leadership Institute's Veterinary Leadership Experience.

In her current role at Veterinary Referral Center Malvern, Dr. Batholomew is an associate emergency veterinarian, Director of the ER Immerse Program, and the Externship Coordinator. These roles and her time serving on the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine admissions committee have provided her with keen insights into how applicants can stand out and present their best selves to top vet schools. 

Dr. Bartholomew is dedicated to helping new veterinarians grow and thrive, and she extends this same commitment to aspiring applicants. She enjoys guiding individuals through the admissions process in a way that feels manageable, attainable, and empowering. Her strengths as a coach include helping candidates with self-exploration to develop the most compelling application and encouraging them to maintain mental health while pursuing their passions. 

As an admissions counselor, Dr. Bartholomew combines her enthusiasm for mentoring with a holistic approach to guiding students toward their goals. She provides a structured plan for success while fostering a deep understanding of each applicant's unique attributes and desires. Her approach is grounded in genuine support and connection, ensuring that each individual receives tailored guidance that empowers them throughout the admissions process.

While at Harvard, he was the Co-President of Harvard College Pre-Veterinary Society, which helped guide undergrads to take the right classes and answer any questions about the pre-veterinary path. This leadership position led him to work with the Office of Career Services to start the Harvard Veterinary Network and keep vets connected after finishing undergraduate studies. 

Oliver also worked as a Student Researcher at the Harvard Neuroscience Lab under the direction of Dr. Erin Hecht, specializing in canine behavior and Hopi Hoekstra’s lab genetics. He was also involved in the research for the Canine Brains Project. After graduation, he worked in three different mixed and small animal private veterinary practices, and worked on the strategy and business development teams of two different veterinary start-ups—Anivive, focused on biotech and pharmaceuticals, and Petfolk, focused on building small veterinary hospitals. 

Growing up in a household with veterinarians, Oliver always knew he wanted to join the profession and help animals. His approach to veterinary medicine and education is characterized by his passion for continuous learning, his commitment to teaching, and his ability to find joy in exploring related fields. Whether offering advice, providing words of encouragement, editing essays, or writing letters of recommendation, he has helped many students navigate the veterinary admissions process and get accepted.

Dr. Applebaum graduated from the University of Delaware with an Honors BS in pre-veterinary medicine and animal biosciences with minors in Spanish and medical diagnostics. At the University of Delaware, she served as a peer mentor, assisting with course selection, planning activities, and helping with the general adjustment to college. She was also an ambassador for her college, working as a tour guide for potential students and donors. As a veterinarian, Dr. Applebaum continues to mentor students near and far to help them gain acceptance into veterinary school.

Dr. Applebaum also participated in the executive board of several clubs on campus, volunteered at a local beef and pork farm, and led a student trip abroad to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, volunteering in spay/neuter and vaccine clinics. She was heavily involved in undergraduate research and completed a senior thesis studying the avian respiratory microbiome. These experiences helped her gain acceptance to Penn Vet, where she earned her DVM.

Professionally, Dr. Applebaum has been a small animal veterinarian at Sycamore Veterinary Hospital for over seven years, but will treat any animal that walks, flies, trots, swims, or slithers into her clinic. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians.

She also volunteers at community feline trap-neuter-and-release clinics, where she teaches students the art of high-volume spay and neutering. She is passionate about promoting the human-animal bond through quality medical and surgical care, and her favorite part of vet med is the ability to build strong relationships with pets, their parents, and also students interested in entering the field.

Recognizing that the application process is stressful, one of Dr. Applebaum’s greatest strengths is breaking down every step to help students feel at ease. She is passionate about teaching, loves having student shadows at work, and often returns to her college to speak with current students. She remembers what it was like to be in the applicant's shoes and has extensive experience helping students prepare resumes, write personal statements, and ace interviews. 

Dr. Mika began her higher education journey at Pennsylvania State University, where she majored in veterinary and biomedical science and minored in poultry and avian science. During her undergraduate years, Dr. Mika engaged in various activities, including working in a small mammal virome research lab and tutoring students in organic chemistry. 

Driven by her passion for veterinary medicine, she went on to attend the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Participating in an internship at an equine referral hospital, she gained hands-on experience managing emergency cases and assisting with surgeries daily. During her time at UPenn, she developed a particular interest in equine medicine, which has since become a central focus of her clinical work. While in vet school, Dr. Allison was the recipient of numerous recognitions, including the Student Anesthesia Award from the North American Veterinary Anesthesia Society.

As a coach, Dr. Mika is committed to providing students with the guidance, support, and resources they need to succeed in the veterinary school application process. She works closely with each student to develop a customized schedule that allows ample time for brainstorming, drafting, and refining their application materials. She recognizes that every student has different priorities, interests, and strengths, and works closely with each individual to identify programs that align with their specific needs and objectives. 

Another key aspect of Dr. Mika's advising approach is her focus on helping students craft applications that accurately reflect their true identities and experiences. She understands that the most compelling applications are those that highlight a student's qualities, achievements, and passion for veterinary medicine. To this end, she works diligently with students to highlight their strengths, refine their personal statements, and ensure that their applications present a holistic and authentic picture of who they are as individuals and aspiring veterinarians.

During her time at Colorado State University's DVM program, Dr. McDaniel's career goals underwent significant changes. While she initially focused on equine medicine during her undergraduate studies at Colorado State, she developed a strong interest in small animal care and oncology through her work as a veterinary assistant at CSU's Flint Animal Cancer Center. She also received multiple scholarships, including the Westernaires Equine Scholarship, National Western Stock Show Scholarship, Vet Start Scholarship, and others. 

After matriculating to vet school, Dr. McDaniel also actively participated in professional organizations such as the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). Her professional interests are particularly focused on preventative care and internal medicine, reflecting her commitment to the health and well-being of equine patients. 

After exploring a variety of both small animal and equine opportunities throughout veterinary school, her love for horses and working outdoors ultimately determined her career path. This experience of having to navigate her own changing interests and ultimately finding her passion in equine ambulatory practice has inspired her to mentor students facing similar challenges. Dr. McDaniel encourages students to explore various areas of the profession, fostering a well-rounded understanding of the many opportunities within veterinary practice.

After graduation, Dr. McDaniel jumped right into equine general practice and emergency care. Currently, she practices equine ambulatory medicine in the picturesque Virginia horse country, where she finds great fulfillment in mentoring both pre-veterinary and veterinary students. Her favorite days are when she brings high school or pre-veterinary students along for the ride, filling the time between calls with stories of veterinary adventures, admission advice, and career insights.

Dr. McDaniel recognizes that every applicant brings a distinctive set of skills and experiences to the table. She takes pride in working closely with each individual to demonstrate how their presence will enrich both the veterinary school and the profession as a whole. She is a firm believer in the importance of diversity in veterinary medicine and is dedicated to helping students highlight how their life experiences add value to the field. 

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jenna's journey to veterinary medicine began when she moved to California to pursue a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at Santa Clara University. Despite her initial focus on chemistry, Jenna's academic interests expanded, leading her to graduate with double majors in biochemistry and English and a minor in biology. Her academic excellence was recognized with her induction into the English Honors Society Sigma Tau Delta, and she cherishes her time as an active member of Rho Psi Eta, a pre-health sorority.

Jenna's passion for veterinary medicine is deeply personal. It stems from her experience with her beloved dachshund, Lucy, who suffered from Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD). The years of care, therapy, and support that followed Lucy's emergency surgery reinforced her commitment to animal welfare and veterinary medicine. 

Throughout her education, Jenna has gained diverse experience through volunteer work at animal shelters in Honolulu and Santa Clara, a small animal GP/Rehabilitation clinic, and a high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter clinic. She has also accumulated approximately six years of combined full-time experience working as a kennel and veterinary assistant at a small animal and exotics ER/GP. In these roles, Jenna has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, turtles, and chameleons. She is committed to continuing her work with all types of animals throughout her veterinary career.

Jenna also served as a Health Professions Peer Advisor, where she was part of an Advisory Committee to revamp her university's pre-health advising system. As the Veterinary Representative, she shared her experiences as a pre-vet student and guided them through the VMCAS application processes. Over the years, Jenna worked with numerous vet school candidates, reviewing their application essays and resumes while helping them target schools that aligned with their goals. She takes pride in her ability to recognize and highlight the qualities of each applicant, making the application process more seamless and effective.

Jenna’s core aspirations as an admissions counselor align closely with her personal and professional values. She approaches each relationship with an abundance of empathy and kindness. Dr. Hallsten has always had a deep connection to animals, particularly Arabian horses. Her journey to veterinary medicine began with her involvement in the Women's Varsity Rowing Team during high school, which she continued at the University of California, Berkeley, competing in the NCAA Division 1 program. At UC Berkeley, Dr. Hallsten graduated with a BA in biology and was actively involved in research investigating the role of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in corneal epithelial infections. 

Her academic excellence and diverse experiences led to her acceptance into the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Besides acting as a student representative for the CVMA Board of Governors, Dr. Hallsten was a member of the Equine Medicine Club (EMC) and the Student Veterinary Emergency Response Team (sVERT). 

Dr. Hallsten’s passion for mentoring stems from her own experiences as a student-athlete and the camaraderie she found among her peers in vet school. She understands the challenges and barriers that many students face when applying to veterinary programs and is committed to making the process more approachable and manageable. Her genuine interest in students' diverse passions and experiences allows her to connect with them on a personal level, fostering well-rounded guidance to help individuals pursue their interests alongside their veterinary aspirations.

As a counselor, Dr. Hallsten excels in guiding students through the application process. Her experience in editing essays and tutoring writing throughout her undergraduate years, combined with her role in editing vet school applications, equips her with the skills to help students craft compelling documents. During her undergraduate studies, Emma served as the captain of the cross-country, indoor, and outdoor track teams, and conducted research on the effects of phytoestrogens on osteoblast differentiation. Prior to vet school, Emma worked as a veterinary technician assistant at a small animal general practice hospital for five years and on a therapeutic farm, where she cared for goats, sheep, horses, and chickens. She is passionate about emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and affordable and accessible veterinary care. 

Emma is also passionate about tutoring and mentoring; she focuses on helping applicants brainstorm creative essay topics and execute well-structured essays. She brings her experience as an accomplished writer to guide students through the application process, offering support in long-term planning and time management. Dr. Knight is a highly skilled and compassionate veterinarian dedicated to delivering exceptional care to her patients. With a strong foundation in both clinical expertise and empathetic client communication, she excels in general surgery and internal medicine, with a particular focus on endocrinology and neurology. Before her current role, she honed her skills in farm animal medicine, gaining valuable experience at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge University. Before entering vet school, Dr. Harrison was a veterinary technician for five years in general and specialty practice. Throughout her academic journey, she actively engaged in veterinary research, contributing to two publications in the fields of shelter animal medicine and neurobiology. Her experiences as a neurology veterinary technician at the University of Florida helped propel her on her journey to becoming a veterinary neurologist. 

Dr. Harrison’s research experience helped her fine-tune her analytic skills while broadening her perspective on the veterinary field as a whole. Her work with the Western University Veterinary Enrichment Summer Program allowed her to introduce a future generation of possible veterinarians to the field and the potential path ahead of them. 

Dr. Harrison’s expertise lies in her ability to guide students through the application process, including those who are reapplying or need assistance in interview preparation. Her knack for identifying and highlighting students' unique voices has proven immensely helpful in their application success. Dr. Harrison takes a structured yet flexible approach, providing step-by-step guidance while adapting to each student's unique journey. During her undergraduate years, Lily earned a place on the Dean's List every semester and served on the executive board of the Honors College. She further expanded her clinical skills during her gap year, working as a veterinary assistant and surgical technician in the Neurology Department at MedVet Chicago.

Lily has become a permanent member of the Wildlife Epidemiology Laboratory at UIUC. As an active turtle team leader, she is mapping the prevalence of Chlamydia spp. in native turtles and investigating its public health implications—a subject that forms the basis of her MPH thesis project. This research demonstrates her commitment to the One Health approach, bridging veterinary medicine with public health concerns.

Lily's leadership skills and dedication to the veterinary profession are evident in her various roles within the school community. She serves as the Zoetis student representative and clinical pathology representative for the university's pathology club and has organized impactful lectures and facilitated collaborations between students and faculty. Dr. Garcia's journey began at a young age when she declared her aspiration to become a veterinarian to her first-grade class. She attended the University of Missouri, graduating with a BS in animal sciences and a minor in captive wild animal management before pursuing a DVM. Demonstrating her deep commitment to her alma mater, she continued her education at the University of Missouri Veterinary School, where she honed her skills and knowledge in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Garcia has worked at the Animal Protective Association of Missouri Adoption Center as Director of Veterinary Services. She has also worked as an associate veterinarian at Arch Animal Hospital and the Jones Animal Health Clinic.

Throughout her career, Dr. Garcia has gained extensive experience in various veterinary settings, including walk-in practices, small animal practices, and shelter medicine. One of her greatest strengths is her approachability and transparency. She also has a knack for writing and precision.

Haley's passion led her to graduate magna cum laude from Lasell University with a dual degree in biological science and chemistry. During her time at Lasell, she was the President of Philanthropy in the Student Alumni Association, which allowed her to use her voice to aid underrepresented communities in the Greater Boston Area.

Haley's commitment to veterinary medicine was evident in her work as a veterinary technician at Orange Veterinary Hospital in Connecticut. She became a valued team member and was eventually appointed student ambassador for United Veterinary Care. Her experience at OVH deepened her passion for veterinary medicine and instilled a love for mentorship.

After graduating from Lasell, Haley took a year off to polish her resume before applying to veterinary school. She adopted new skills as a technician, including anesthesiology and diagnostic protocols, and gained equine experience by volunteering at a horse rescue and rehabilitation center.

Haley was accepted to multiple vet schools, but ultimately decided to attend Long Island University. She developed a profound interest in Feline Infectious Peritonitis, a deadly viral coronavirus in cats. She works in a laboratory setting with LIU's virologist to develop genome maps and a diagnostic protocol.

Haley’s passion for working with animals began at a young age, and she spent much of her childhood documenting local animals in her trusty field notebook or watching her hero, Steve Irwin. Haley's love for writing and her adoration for people's distinctive stories make her an ideal guide for students looking to develop a strong personal statement. Her years of experience in detail planning have also honed her skills in helping students navigate the complexities of the veterinary school application process.

Haley is committed to helping the next generation of veterinarians achieve their goals and find fulfillment in both their educational journey and professional careers. Dr. Writt earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison before pursuing her DVM. During her time at UW–Madison, she began her journey in student support as a peer academic advisor, a role she continued for three years through her undergraduate and veterinary studies. This experience ignited her passion for counseling, as she found great fulfillment in supporting students both professionally and personally as they worked toward their goals.

In addition to her academic advising role, Dr. Writt served as a mentor for two years during veterinary school, further honing her skills in guiding and supporting students. Her experience in small and large animal clinical research has provided her with a deep understanding of the complexities of veterinary medicine. Her leadership roles in veterinary school extracurricular activities have also deepened her skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

As a consultant, Dr. Writt specializes in helping students navigate the application process by setting small, frequent, and specific goals to make it more manageable. Dr. Troncoso graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Florida with a BS in biomedical science and a minor in biomedical physics. She later completed her Master’s degree with a 4.0 GPA. She also holds a wildlife and conservation medicine certificate from Purdue University.

Dr. Troncoso has worked as a licensed Florida wildlife rehabilitator for over eight years and is a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator (CWR) through the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council. She currently serves on the board of Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she provides comprehensive care for a diverse range of patients, from household pets to exotic species. 

Throughout her training, Dr. Troncoso gained experience at various prestigious institutions. She completed externships at the Animal Care Center at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL, and the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Sanibel, FL. She also spent several months at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Jacksonville, FL, honing her skills in zoological medicine. Her passion for exotic animal care led her to pursue extended rotations in exotic animal and raptor medicine, as well as an exotic-only externship at Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital in Deerfield Beach, FL.

While exotic animal medicine is her primary focus, Dr. Troncoso's professional interests also include dermatology, oncology, and small ruminant medicine. This diverse skill set allows her to provide comprehensive care to a wide range of patients. 

With a particular interest in small animal emergency medicine and critical care, Riley brings six years of hands-on experience in the veterinary field, having worked as both an assistant and technician, including working for over three years at Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital. Currently, she is furthering her practical skills as a technician in the ICU of the Tufts Foster Hospital for Small Animals, gaining experience in a high-stakes medical environment.

At Tufts, Riley continued to demonstrate her leadership abilities and passion for veterinary medicine through her involvement on the board of the Surgery Club. She was also a veterinary assistant, helping her gain fundamental knowledge and experience for vet school. 

During vet school, Dr. Passaro was a board member of NC State’s Turtle Rescue Team and was involved in the Wildlife, Avian, Aquatic, and Zoological Medicine (WAAZM) Club and Veterinary Business Management Association. Maris's academic journey began at Carleton College, a rigorous liberal arts school, where she majored in biology and studio art. Her undergraduate experience was marked by a strong commitment to extracurricular activities, including being a two-sport student-athlete and representing DIII athletics as a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Before attending veterinary school, Maris gained hands-on experience in various settings. She worked at a small animal clinic for six years, interned at a zoo, and was a counselor at a horseback riding camp. During her senior year, Maris participated in a competitive Research Experience for Undergrads (REU) program at Friday Harbor Laboratories, where she published her first manuscript. After graduation, she began veterinary school at the University of Illinois, her first-choice professional school.

At UIUC, Maris was the Conservation Chair of the school's Wildlife Medical Clinic and was elected Secretary of the Non-Traditional Species Club. She was also a UIUC's Sustainability Committee member and worked as a microbiology student in the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, participating in a swine influenza project. She is also the President-Elect for the North American Wildlife Disease Association student chapter.

Maris completed her PhD in ecology, evolution, and conservation biology. Her research took place in the Wildlife Epidemiology Laboratory, where she studied pathogen surveillance and management strategies in confiscated box turtles from the illegal wildlife trade. She will also be working with the Alaska State Wildlife Veterinary Team in the near future.

The United States Animal Health Association has also recognized her research, and Maris has been awarded for her achievements by the Wildlife Disease Association, Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, and the American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians. Maris's ultimate goal is to pursue a career in wildlife epidemiology and conservation, leveraging her blend of academic excellence, research experience, and passion for helping animals. 

Maris's passion for assisting others in the veterinary school application process stems from her own experience of feeling under-guided when applying to vet school. As a consultant, Maris brings a unique perspective to her work, leveraging her extensive experience with various writing styles to provide an in-depth understanding of the requirements for admission to veterinary school. Her greatest strengths are in writing, having published several manuscripts in journals such as PLOS ONE, Science Direct, and the Journal of Wildlife Diseases, focusing on diagnostic methods for wildlife diseases.

In her counseling sessions, Maris approaches each applicant by understanding all elements of their profile, such as hometown, college clubs, animal experiences, and research, to determine what will make their application stand out. Maris has a 100% success rate with helping students get into vet school—those she has coached have been accepted to Colorado State University, the University of Illinois, Midwestern University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, among others. Maris is committed to providing a helping hand to prospective veterinary school students, sharing her knowledge to make their application journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.

During his undergraduate studies at Saint Louis University, where he earned a BS in cell biology and physiology, Dr. Jedlinski gained valuable research experience through an internship at the Saint Louis Zoo Institute for Conservation Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Jedlinski matriculated to the University of Minnesota, where he earned an MPH in epidemiology, focusing on foodborne and zoonotic diseases. While in graduate school, he was employed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health's Foodborne Illness Epidemiology Unit. Additionally, he completed a specialty internship with the Zoonotic Disease Epidemiology Unit of the Department of Health. His master's thesis was an epidemiological study of the risk of Salmonellosis among agricultural workers in Minnesota.

Dr. Jedlinski attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he received his VMD. During his time at PennVet, he participated in the Boehringer-Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars Program, a prestigious research fellowship that allowed him to work on developing a point-of-care, portable PCR diagnostic for equine infectious diseases.

Students Dr. Jedlinski has worked with have been accepted to top vet schools at Cornell, UPenn, Auburn, Tufts, and others. With his extensive academic and research background, he is well-equipped to guide students through the rigorous veterinary school admissions process. His firsthand experience navigating the application process, coupled with his expertise in various fields and time as an admissions representative, provides him with a specialized perspective to share with aspiring veterinarians.
