Undergrad: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Nirandra’s passion for teaching began before college when she tutored elementary and middle school students in math. At UNC, she continued developing as an educator through two years as an undergraduate learning assistant for Organic Chemistry. Working with students in one of the more demanding courses on the pre-med track strengthened her ability to break complex scientific concepts into clear, approachable explanations.
Beyond tutoring, Nirandra has pursued clinical and research experiences that reinforce her interest in medicine. She previously worked as a patient sitter at UNC Hospitals and has conducted research spanning clinical anesthesiology and HIV. She currently works as a research intern and conducts radiation oncology research at Georgetown University.
Nirandra’s tutoring approach focuses on understanding first, then application. Rather than relying heavily on memorized shortcuts, she helps students build a strong grasp of fundamental concepts and then apply that knowledge to increasingly difficult practice questions. This mirrors the way the MCAT tests students: not simply on what they can remember, but on how effectively they can reason through new information.
Nirandra finds real satisfaction in helping students reach their own potential on the MCAT, especially when the exam can feel very overwhelming. She is passionate about making the MCAT's material genuinely click for students on the journey towards becoming a physician.
