Before pursuing medicine, Justin worked as a trader at Bridgewater Associates, honing the quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills he now brings to test prep. He currently works as an EMT with North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad. Justin’s research focuses on psychiatry and digital mental health—he authored a first-a uthor narrative review on passive sensor-informed interventions for depression submitted to the Journal of Psychiatric Research, with an abstract from this work accepted to the World Congress of Biological Psychiatry. He also submitted a first-author abstract on AI-associated psychosis to an upcoming American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting.
Justin has been teaching and tutoring since age 13, when he began helping younger students learn Go. He later tutored students across a range of academic subjects through New York Cares and, after earning a competitive score on the MCAT, began tutoring students specifically for the exam. His path from engineering to finance to medicine gives him a broad perspective that enriches his tutoring, and he draws on each of those experiences when helping students build their own study strategies.
As an MCAT tutor, Justin emphasizes active recall, mind mapping, and AI tools to help students learn content efficiently and retain it. When approaching difficult questions, he first works to understand how a student is thinking, then breaks down that thought process to identify where it can be improved. His primary goal is to teach students how to think and study independently, building skills they can continue using long after a tutoring session ends. Because most MCAT studying happens outside of sessions, Justin focuses on giving students a framework they can apply on their own throughout the exam and beyond.
