Undergrad: University of Calgary
Jas graduated from the University of Calgary with a BS in chemistry and a minor in physics. She conducted advanced undergraduate research in wastewater chemical analysis and ozone nanobubble solutions, developing novel analytical methods to detect reactive oxygen species. Her honors thesis was selected for presentation at the Western Canadian Undergraduate Chemistry Conference at the University of British Columbia, where she shared her findings with peers and faculty from across the country.
Jas has secured multiple scholarships for her academic excellence and commitment to leadership. She is a two-time recipient of the Government of Alberta’s Women in STEM Scholarship, and was awarded the E.G. Coombe Family Scholarship for her academic achievement in science, among others. Additionally, she was named a Presidential Scholar and Louise McKinney Scholar at her graduation.
With seven years of tutoring expertise spanning undergraduate-level organic chemistry, general chemistry, and biochemistry, Jas has successfully mentored numerous students as they work toward their MCAT score goals. She also served as undergraduate science tutor in the University of Calgary’s Resource Centre for four years. Students Jas has tutored have raised their MCAT scores by an average of 10 points, and have been accepted to some of North America’s top medical schools, including UCLA, NYU Grossman, McMaster University, the University of Toronto, and others.
Jas’ greatest strengths lie in her approachability, clarity of communication, and personalized coaching style. She tailors every lesson to match a student’s individual learning preferences—whether visual, verbal, or conceptual—while focusing on confidence-building, strategic review, and exam mindset. She is particularly skilled at working with students who struggle with timing, endurance, or test anxiety.
Beyond academics, Jas has a rich background in leadership, athletics, and service. She played competitive basketball for 12 years and now gives back to the sport as a coach for elite U15–U17 boys at a respected academy, where she focuses on discipline, resilience, and teamwork. She also volunteers regularly at a local hospital and with the YMCA, where she mentors youth and supports community wellness programs.
Driven, empathetic, and results-oriented, Jas is deeply committed to helping aspiring medical students reach their full potential academically, professionally, and personally. Her holistic, empowering approach makes her an invaluable guide for anyone navigating the MCAT journey.
