Gianna developed a strong background in science education through her experiences at UCLA. As a learning assistant, she supported students individually and in groups in their science courses, helping them build confidence with challenging material and develop effective approaches to learning. She later served as a Pedagogy Head, where she helped other learning assistants develop effective teaching strategies. She also gained hands-on experience in sports science as a sports nutrition intern with UCLA Athletics, and served as an undergraduate student researcher in the UCLA Aging Biology & Behavior Lab.
Gianna’s own MCAT journey taught her that improving your score requires much more than simply studying for more hours. She learned how to identify the reasons behind missed questions, target weaknesses efficiently, and continually adjust a study strategy based on performance. One of Gianna’s greatest strengths is identifying why a student is missing questions, whether due to content gaps, passage interpretation, reasoning, timing, or test-taking strategy, and helping them focus their studying on the areas that will have the greatest impact on their score. Gianna especially enjoys teaching students how to analyze their practice questions and exams so that every mistake becomes useful information about what to work on next. She has experience working with both first-time test-takers and students retaking the MCAT.
Gianna is passionate about helping students achieve their goal scores and making the MCAT feel more manageable. She encourages students to ask questions, be open about what they are struggling with, and view tutoring as a collaborative process. Gianna loves sharing the strategies and lessons she learned through her own MCAT experience and years of tutoring, and she enjoys helping students find an approach that works best for them. Gianna’s approach to tutoring is shaped by her belief that effective preparation should be both strategic and sustainable. She works closely with students to build study schedules around school, work, extracurriculars, and other commitments, adjusting them as needed while helping students stay accountable and make consistent progress.
