Evan Gutke, Private MCAT Tutor at Inspira Advantage

Evan graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in biophysics and a minor in mathematics. He was awarded the BYU Heritage Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship awarded on the basis of academic excellence, and was on the Dean’s List for seven consecutive semesters. Evan has been tutoring for over five years in virtual and in-person settings.

Evan worked as a physics teaching assistant at Brigham Young University for several years, focusing on topics such as Newtonian mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, light, electricity, and magnetism, all of which appear on the MCAT. The combination of his extensive previous tutoring experiences and explicit experiences teaching topics on the MCAT makes him a highly qualified instructor for the exam. Students that Evan has tutored report significant score increases, reflecting his pedagogical expertise and a proven history in helping students improve their scores on standardized exams.

He also has a number of research interests, including genetic engineering and adhesion proteins. Evan conducted research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, where he helped conduct groundbreaking discoveries on genetic insertion techniques in P. Pacificus. Evan and his mentor designed and incorporated large nucleotide segments into the nematode's genome, whereas CRISPR-mediated efforts had previously limited such insertions to < 50 nucleotides. Evan also conducted research on the effects of chimeric claudins on angiogenesis and wound healing at Brigham Young University, and has several pending publications from these experiences.

As a tutor, Evan takes a friendly, personable approach to helping students learn MCAT content and improve their scores. He is encouraging, approachable, and patient, ensuring that he takes the time to ensure students understand key concepts before applying them.
