Dr. Theo S.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Sher graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in molecular and cell biology. He was inducted into the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Alumni Association, and received multiple awards, including the Outstanding Honors Poster in Immunology Award, the Berkeley Undergraduate Merit Scholarship, the Rose Hills Foundation Science and Engineering Scholarship, and the Don Kosovac Leadership Award. Prior to medical school, Dr. Sher worked as a consultant at ZS Associates, advising in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical space, and served as an EMT, gaining early, hands-on experience in patient care.

 In medical school, Dr. Sher was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Golden Bull Award, the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine’s highest honor for leadership, scholarship, and service. He also received the Robert A. Good Honor Society distinction and the RISE Summer Scholarly Award. He also served as President of the University of South Florida Surgical Outcomes Research Team, leading large-scale research initiatives, and founded a sustainability initiative at his medical school, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and systems-level impact.

Dr. Sher has demonstrated exceptional academic and research achievement over the course of his career, authoring 15+ publications and presenting extensively across anesthesiology, surgery, emergency medicine, and public health. He has published peer-reviewed research in Surgical Endoscopy, the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Cureus, The American Surgeon, and other prestigious publications. He has presented posters at numerous conferences, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Annual Meeting and American Academy of Emergency Medicine Annual Meeting. Dr. Sher has also delivered oral presentations at the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Annual Meeting, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons Annual Meeting, and the Southeastern Surgical Congress Annual Meeting. 

Dr. Sher’s passion for advising stems from his own experience navigating highly competitive academic pathways and his extensive experience in mentoring pre-medical and medical students. He understands that strong applications are not built on checklists alone but on the ability to communicate a cohesive and authentic story. As an admissions coach, he’s known for his structured, strategic, and highly personalized approach. He has guided students through all stages of the medical school application process, from early candidacy development to interview preparation and waitlist strategy. He focuses on helping students identify their strengths, address weaknesses, and position themselves effectively within an increasingly competitive admissions landscape. He emphasizes clarity, honesty, and execution, ensuring that each student not only builds a strong application but also gains confidence throughout the process.
