Prior to medical school, he graduated from the University of Washington with dual credentials in biochemistry and interdisciplinary honors, balancing academic excellence with athletic pursuits. He was consistently recognized on the Dean's List during his undergraduate years.
Dr. Mellacheruvu earned his MD from the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism and Honor Society and recognized as a finalist in the American Medical Association's Top 50 Research Showcase. During his clinical rotations, he developed a particular interest in cardiology that continues to shape his career trajectory.
Throughout medical school, Dr. Mellacheruvu demonstrated his commitment to advocacy and research. He became involved with national advocacy through the American College of Physicians, working to promote the interests of internal medicine physicians and their patients.
