Dr. Kush A.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Amin graduated cum laude from the University of California, Riverside, where he conducted neuroscience research. His early research experience established a strong foundation in scientific investigation, which continued into his medical school training, where his work expanded into otolaryngology, skull-base surgery, and neuroscience, focusing on traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Amin earned national recognition for his research, including 1st- and 2nd-place awards and a National Institutes of Health research grant. He has presented his research at national conferences and has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Experimental Biology and Experimental Neurology. 

Alongside his clinical and research career, Dr. Amin has extensive experience in medical education and mentorship. He has worked with students applying to medical school and med students applying to residency programs. He has also tutored students preparing for the MCAT and students needing help with med school prerequisites, including pathology, microbiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. He takes great pride in helping students achieve their goals. 

Dr. Amin loves sharing insights with students from his time as an interviewer for medical school and residency programs. Students he has coached have been accepted to Rocky Vista University, Western University, Midwestern University, Touro University, William Carey University, California University of Science and Medicine, New York Institute of Technology, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and others.

As a mentor, Dr. Amin takes a strategic approach to advising. He begins by understanding each student’s background, goals, and experiences, then helps identify the strongest elements of their candidacy and the areas that need further development. From there, he works collaboratively with students to build a cohesive application narrative, address weaknesses directly, and communicate their experiences in a way that is both authentic and compelling.

Because he has personally navigated medical school and residency admissions, Dr. Amin understands how difficult it can be for applicants to determine what makes them distinctive. He focuses on helping students connect the different parts of their application into a clear story and understand how admissions committees may interpret their academic record, experiences, essays, and interviews.
