Undergrad: University of Northwestern – St. Paul
Medical School: Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Before attending medical school, Dr. Rice graduated from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul with a BS in biology. His passion for helping other students succeed began as a tutor and teaching assistant in both undergraduate studies and in medical school. He continued to hone those skills during a year-long anatomy teaching and research fellowship during medical school. At KCU-COM, Dr. Rice also started ophthalmology and otolaryngology interest groups to help students find connections and resources to increase their chances of matching into these specialties. He graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi and Psi Sigma Alpha.
After graduating, Dr. Rice continued to work in medical education, eventually helping oversee medical illustrations and animations at a private test prep company while writing and editing questions and developing a new question bank. He has also worked one-on-one and in group settings to help students who have struggled to pass their board exams. Since graduating, Dr. Rice has also served as a research fellow at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Rice has significant experience helping students understand and communicate how an unorthodox path can be a huge asset for both their applications and in their careers as physicians. He does not shy away from cases that require more effort and creative problem solving.
