Dr. Albanese earned a Bachelor of Science in avian biology from the University of Georgia before pursuing doctoral training in poultry science. Her PhD research focused on the biology, molecular virology, and molecular parasitology of avian pathogens, building a strong foundation in infectious disease research and veterinary biotechnology. Her work earned recognition through the Merck Animal Health Education Research Poultry Sponsorship Award, and she later expanded her technical training by completing a graduate certificate in bioinformatics through the Harvard Extension School.
Following her academic training, Dr. Albanese spent several years at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA working in poultry research and development and viral vaccine exploration. Her work centered on the research and development of poultry viral and bacterial vaccines, with particular emphasis on exploratory vaccine strategies for avian infectious bronchitis virus. As a project lead, she helped guide research from early scientific questions through experimental design, testing, interpretation, and broader development decisions.
Throughout her career in top-tier corporate settings and academic laboratories, Dr. Albanese has remained deeply invested in mentorship.
