Before attending the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Jang graduated from John Brown University with a degree in biology. After graduation, she gained meaningful clinical experience as an ophthalmic technician, an optometric technician, and a scribe. She also served as an English as a Second Language instructor, a role she held for several years that sharpened her communication skills and her ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
During medical school, Dr. Jang became involved in admissions advising and mentorship, providing guidance on personal statements, application strategy, and mock interviews. She took on an active role in reviewing applications and participating in the admissions process in a decision-making capacity. She began her residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she served as a resident reviewer, providing feedback on applicant readiness and overall program fit.
Throughout her training, Dr. Jang has been deeply involved in academic medicine and research. Her work includes a published case report on pheochromocytoma in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, additional scholarly work on Leishmania, and numerous multidisciplinary tumor board presentations spanning gastrointestinal, ENT, and oncologic cases. This experience has strengthened her ability to synthesize complex information, communicate clearly, and approach problems with precision.
Dr. Jang has worked with hundreds of students across a wide range of academic backgrounds, including high-achieving applicants and those rebuilding their academic trajectory. She has supported medical students, pre-medical applicants, and international graduates through exams, applications, and interviews. Her approach to advising is thoughtful, strategic, and highly personalized. She focuses on helping students build clear, compelling narratives while also strengthening the substance of their applications. She is known for her strong editorial eye, attention to detail, and the ability to break down overwhelming processes into practical, manageable steps.
What drives Dr. Jang’s passion for coaching is her belief that the admissions process is one of the most formative periods in a student’s life. She is committed to helping each student present their story authentically and confidently.
