Prior to medical school, Dr. Onwuegbuchu earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and psychology from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science in medical sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Onwuegbuchu has been recognized for her academic excellence and dedication to advancing health equity and serving underserved communities through several prestigious honors, including the National Health Service Corps Scholarship, Rotary Global Grant Scholarship, and the W.R. Hammond Scholarship. She is also a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, reflecting her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, 

Beyond admissions coaching, Dr. Onwuegbuchu is actively engaged in research and education focused on healthcare transitions, diversity in medicine, and improving outcomes for patients with complex medical needs. She has presented nationally and contributed to peer-reviewed publications. Her scholarly work includes publications in journals such as Clinical Pediatrics, International Journal of Social Psychiatry, and G3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics.

She has led national mentorship initiatives through the Student National Medical Association, impacting hundreds of students across the country, and has spent 10 years coaching applicants across all stages of training. She specializes in helping students uncover their voice, connect their experiences, and present themselves with confidence in highly competitive application processes.
