Dr. Cassidy N.

Before medical school, Dr. Nguyen graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in neurobiology and behavior. She also graduated Phi Beta Kappa and was named a Rose Hills Foundation Undergraduate Science and Engineering Scholar. She served as the Executive Director, President, and Sponsorship Chair for Medical, Educational, Missions and Outreach (MEMO), a non-profit student-run organization at UC Irvine. She continues to lead and advise MEMO to provide free healthcare services and education in Vietnam and Orange County.

At the University of Utah School of Medicine, Dr. Nguyen served as an academic success mentor and tutor, student alumni representative, and a medical student ambassador. She also served as President of the Dermatology Interest Group, the Student Global Health Initiative, and the Medicine and Pediatric Interest Group. She also served on the Professionalism and Diversity Committee and volunteered at the Fourth Street and Midvale Free clinic. Alongside her MD, Dr. Nguyen also earned a graduate certificate in global medicine. She later completed a pre-doctoral dermatology research fellowship at UT Austin before beginning residency.

Dr. Nguyen has conducted research in pediatric dermatology, skin of color, psychodermatology, vascular anomalies, and complex inflammatory skin conditions. She has 25+ publications that have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, the International Journal of Dermatology, and others. She has also presented her work at national and international conferences. Dr. Nguyen has received multiple recognitions for her work through medical school and residency, including the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Next Generation Scholarship, the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation Academy Award, and the Future Leaders in Psoriatic Disease Award. 

Dr. Nguyen has evaluated applications and interviewed candidates during her transitional year at Riverside Community Hospital and has mentored pre-med students throughout the medical school application process. Her experience as a mentor, tutor, and interviewer allows her to provide students with detailed feedback and practical insight into how admissions committees evaluate applicants. As a first-generation medical student and physician, she understands the challenges of navigating admissions without an established roadmap. 

 Dr. Nguyen approaches coaching as a partnership. She helps applicants identify their authentic narrative and brand, communicate their strengths confidently, and make thoughtful, intentional decisions throughout the application process. Dr. Nguyen is passionate about coaching because meaningful mentorship can make medicine more accessible to talented applicants from every background.

As a first-generation medical student and physician, Dr. Nguyen understands the challenges of navigating admissions without an established roadmap. She strives to give applicants the kind of individualized guidance and support that can make the process feel more approachable and help them pursue their goals with confidence.
