Andrew Wrede, Private MCAT Tutor at Inspira Advantage

Andrew graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor’s in health science and currently works as an intern at Columbia University, where he helps foster connection and engagement within the university community. With a 526 MCAT score, two years of tutoring experience, and experience as a biochemistry tutor during college, Andrew is passionate about helping pre-meds ace the MCAT.

During his time at Boston University, Andrew worked as an EMT with both a municipal first aid squad and a 911 ambulance company north of Boston, providing emergency care in diverse clinical settings. He also served as a patient navigator at the Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights, where he provided trauma-informed mental health and social service support to patients at Boston Medical Center. These roles deepened his ability to connect with people across a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

Andrew’s research spans the sciences and humanities. In biomedical research, Andrew studied rare neurological voice disorders at the intersection of biomedical engineering and speech-language science, contributing to the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research and Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology. He also presented his work through Boston University's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. Beyond the laboratory, he created an anthology of poems exploring the human experience of illness in global health, reflecting his appreciation for literature and the humanities. This perspective informs Andrew’s approach to CARS, where he helps students develop strong reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and thoughtful interpretation skills.

As an MCAT tutor, Andrew remembers how isolating and overwhelming the preparation process can feel as a self-studied test-taker. His goal is to be more than a tutor—he strives to be a mentor and partner who helps students build genuine confidence for test day. Andrew is known for making challenging material accessible. He developed a reputation as a biochemistry tutor at Boston University for breaking down difficult concepts using clear, memorable metaphors and real-world comparisons. His teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding over memorization, helping students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to tackle unfamiliar questions. He is passionate about working with students to build long-term study skills that carry them from the MCAT through medical school and beyond.
