Silas Monje
Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
Silas is currently a medical student at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a Neuroscience honors graduate from the same institution. He has devoted considerable time and energy to understanding the intricacies of the Drosophila melanogaster brain, and the processes by which these insects assimilate sensory information from their surroundings. As an active member of his community in Block Island, where he was born and raised, Silas has offered his services as a volunteer for the local emergency medical services over the past six years. This sense of community engagement and service to others has been carried forward into his medical school journey. Silas currently spearheads the Brown chapter of Medical Students for Choice (MSFC), striving to extend reproductive rights nationwide. He is also the lead of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Interest Group, where he helps provide pre-clinical students with opportunities to explore this particular field.
