Dr. Clara holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Veterinary Animal Science from Iowa State University and a DVM from the same institution. As the first in her generation to receive a Doctorate, she has demonstrated a dedication to education and mentorship throughout her academic career. Clara is currently a PhD candidate at the University of California San Diego, studying immunology and infectious disease. During her undergraduate studies, Clara enjoyed participating in student research and completed a research internship at Harvard University. Her veterinary education focused on small animal medicine, supplemented by externships at renowned institutions such as Stanford University and MIT. Clara also held numerous leadership positions, including President of the Iowa State Chapter of the Student American Veterinary Medicine Association (SAVMA) and Student Senator for the Iowa State University's Student Government.
