Before attending the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Holmes graduated with a Bachelor's in economics from the University of Florida. She has served as the Lead Coordinator for Harvard’s Bridge to Dental School Program, which provides undergraduate students with an interactive curriculum that demystifies applying to dental school. Additionally, Dr. Holmes was her cohort’s Class President and served as an admissions officer at Harvard.

Dr. Holmes began her academic journey in Jamaica before relocating to Florida at age 18. She studied at Miami Dade College and later graduated from the University of Florida. A serendipitous conversation with a dental student sparked her interest in dentistry, leading her to pursue post-baccalaureate studies to prepare for dental school as a non-traditional student. Dr. Holmes has extensive work and leadership experience as a retail store manager and the lead orthodontic assistant at Beautiful Smiles in North Miami.

As Class President, Dr. Holmes demonstrated exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. She tirelessly represented and advocated for her classmates' needs while ensuring that academic and extracurricular opportunities were accessible to all. She was deeply committed to fostering a supportive, collaborative environment within her class, encouraging peer mentorship and teamwork as critical components of academic success and personal development.

In addition to this role, she was actively engaged in research focused on dental education. Dr. Holmes is passionate about exploring innovative teaching methods and educational strategies that will improve the learning experience for dental students. Her research aims to enhance curricula, optimize instructional techniques, and ultimately contribute to preparing future dental professionals who are clinically proficient and well-equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.

Dr. Holmes’ passion for dentistry and helping others is evident through her active involvement in community service, mainly focusing on improving access to dental care. Her transition to dentistry was driven by a desire to make a significant impact, and she has since dedicated herself to mentoring undergraduate students. Dr. Holmes takes great pleasure in breaking down the dental school application process, making it less intimidating for prospective students.

Dr. Holmes has also gained extensive hands-on experience in various facets of the dental field, having worked in dental assisting, management, and advising roles. In these positions, she developed a deep understanding of dental practice operations, patient care, and the complexities of running a successful practice. Her work in management has sharpened her problem-solving skills, while her experience in dental assisting has strengthened her clinical knowledge and ability to connect with others. Through advising, she has had the opportunity to guide and mentor students, providing valuable support and insight as they navigate the challenges of dental school.

A natural teacher and mentor, Dr. Holmes enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping others succeed through formal teaching roles.
