As a pre-med student, Dr. Das earned a BS in neurobiology and physiology with a minor in human development. Alongside her courses, she scribed for an orthopedic surgeon and provided mentorship to young adults with sickle cell disease. Before medical school, Dr. Das participated in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Summer Internship Program at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, where she pursued neuroscience research and utilized machine learning to study nicotine dependence. She also conducted research at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, further strengthening her background in neuroscience and translational research.
Throughout medical school, Dr. Das distinguished herself as a researcher and educator. She presented at more than a dozen conferences, published 11 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and earned multiple grants supporting her ophthalmology research and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Her recognitions include the George Frick MD Award for Outstanding Research in Ophthalmology and the FRCT Certificate of Outstanding Achievement, awarded to the top 10% of graduating medical students for exemplary research accomplishments. Her work has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, and Ophthalmology Science, among other journals. In addition to research, Dr. Das served as a tutor, providing test preparation for pre-clinical coursework and USMLE Step examinations.
Dr. Das’ approach to consulting is to provide students with an advice toolkit, including tips for success from the perspective of an admissions committee member. Students Dr. Das has mentored have been accepted to multiple medical schools, including Wayne State University, the University of Maryland, Midwestern University, and the University of South Florida.
She is driven to explore her student’s personal life story, academic achievements, and extracurricular participation to curate an exceptional personal statement application. Dr. Das is motivated to help students go beyond their pre-clinical requirements and dive deep into their stories to avoid a cookie-cutter application. Dr. Das is committed to providing quality mentorship to students from all backgrounds, including non-traditional applicants, underrepresented backgrounds, and reapplicants.
