Dr. Diamond began her academic path at the College of William & Mary, where she earned a degree in English Literature. Her love of storytelling and human connection eventually led her to pursue medicine. She completed a second bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at Christopher Newport University, followed by an MS in biomedical sciences and an MD at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). She completed her residency at Centra Health’s Lynchburg Family Medicine program.
Dr. Diamond’s experience in medical admissions took shape early—she served as a student member of the EVMS Admissions Committee. She later continued this work as a member of the admissions committee at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. These roles gave her first-hand insight into what makes an application memorable, mission-aligned, and uniquely authentic.
As a faculty member at UVA, Dr. Diamond taught and coached medical students in patient interviewing, clinical skills, and medical decision-making. She guided students through every phase of their training, including supporting fourth-year students applying to family medicine residency. She has also mentored aspiring physicians in her local community and through national programs sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and the Student National Medical Association.
Dr. Diamond currently practices at Piedmont Direct Primary Care, where she continues to combine her passion for medicine and education. Clinically, Dr. Diamond is known for creating welcoming, affirming spaces for patients. She was one of the founding physicians of the Adult Gender Medicine Clinic at UVA, reflecting her deep commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care. She brings this same spirit of empathy and advocacy to her work with applicants. Students she has coached have been accepted to the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and others.
As a medical school admissions counselor, Dr. Diamond brings a warm, encouraging style to her advising, helping students share their stories with confidence and authenticity. Her advising philosophy is simple: students succeed when they feel seen, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. She enjoys helping applicants craft meaningful personal statements, prepare for interviews, and identify schools that truly reflect their goals and values. Her students appreciate her thoughtful guidance, her ability to discover the strongest parts of their story, and her genuine enthusiasm for their success.
