Dr. Khan’s training spans the full breadth of musculoskeletal care, including trauma, sports medicine, and hand medicine. His clinical education is complemented by a strong analytical foundation developed prior to medicine, when he worked as an investment banking analyst in consumer and retail sectors at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He later applied this expertise to healthcare mergers and acquisition advisory, where he provided clinical, operational, and financial insight on transactions involving surgical subspecialty practices and ambulatory surgery centers. This background allows him to help applicants articulate non-traditional experiences, business exposure, and leadership in a way that resonates with admissions committees.
Dr. Khan has also remained deeply engaged in academic medicine and medical writing. He has contributed to multiple nationally-recognized publications focused on clinical outcomes and surgical decision-making. More recently, he has served as an independent medical AI reviewer, where he was selected through a competitive screening process to evaluate physician-level AI outputs for accuracy, safety, and clinical reasoning using standardized rubrics.
As an admissions counselor, Dr. Khan’s greatest strengths are his strategic mindset, honesty, and ability to quickly identify what makes an applicant stand out. His coaching style is structured but highly individualized: he helps students build cohesive narratives, refine personal statements, prepare for interviews, and understand how admissions committees and residency programs truly evaluate candidates. Having served in residency selection and mentoring roles, he offers practical, experience-driven guidance rather than generic advice.
Dr. Khan is passionate about coaching because he understands how opaque and stressful the path to medicine can be—especially for high-achieving, non-traditional, or analytically-minded applicants. He is deeply committed to helping students approach the process with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
