Dr. Patel is a neurology resident in the Adult Neurology Department at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Northshore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ). At the Carle Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign, he shaped the admissions process as a student member of the admissions committee, gaining valuable insight into medical school selection and mentoring future physician‑innovators.
Dr. Patel’s higher education journey began at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a BS in bioengineering. Early in his career, Dr. Patel founded a company focused on AI-driven neurodiagnostics for memory disorders—an endeavor that secured a national National Institutes of Health grant and was featured in leading journals and outlets such as Forbes. His entrepreneurial journey and passion for bridging medicine and technology culminated in a TEDx Talk, where he shared lessons learned from building an AI startup in the neuroscience space.
Dr. Patel’s industry experience spans the entire spectrum of biomedical innovation—preclinical, clinical, and post-commercialization. At AstraZeneca, he received first-place recognition among more than 100 interns for his pioneering work on vaporized hydrogen peroxide modeling in drug formulations. At AbbVie, he employed advanced immunohistochemistry techniques to evaluate novel Alzheimer’s disease targets. His business acumen was further sharpened as a consultant, where he developed corporate and market strategies for emerging neurology devices and therapeutics.
At Carle Illinois, the world’s first engineering medical school, Dr. Patel collaborated on migraine‑relief glasses and AI‑driven hemorrhage prediction models, contributing to internationally published research and design awards. His leadership and scholarship were recognized nationally when the American Academy of Neurology awarded him the Medical Student Prize for Excellence.
Alongside his academic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Dr. Patel has devoted himself to mentorship and community engagement across diverse settings.
