Undergrad: Hofstra University
At Hofstra, Joel earned distinction through a series of academic and extracurricular achievements, including roles as a physics and biology TA, PT aide, and youth leader. For his excellence in pre-medical studies, Joel received the Florence Kaufman Premedical Scholarship Award. He was also inducted into the Omega Chapter of the Phi Kappa Beta Honor Society. He also volunteered extensively at a local emergency room and contributed to tutoring underserved students through the Zucker School of Medicine pipeline program. Joel’s work reflects a commitment to service, leadership, and mentoring, which is central to his approach to tutoring.
What sets Joel apart is his student-centered coaching style. He specializes in helping students navigate the challenges of test prep, allowing them to conquer once-intimidating topics. Students Joel has tutored have raised their MCAT scores by an average of 13 points. With a background that spans clinical exposure, research, teaching, and community engagement, Joel is particularly adept at working with first-generation students, economically disadvantaged peers, and non-traditional medical school applicants.
Passionate about equity and inclusion in medicine, Joel views tutoring as more than just teaching content—it’s about helping students see their worth, define their path, and build the confidence to claim it.
