Dr. Pablo Salcedo, Research Mentor at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Salcedo is a physician, pharmacokineticist, and research scientist who works as a Medical Officer for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He has served as a research mentor at Rutgers Medical School and for the ORISE Fellowship Program. Having conducted research trials for over 10 years, Dr. Salcedo has extensive experience in designing studies from start to finish, overseeing implementation, and disseminating results through presentations, webinars, conferences, and publications.

Dr. Salcedo obtained his Bachelor’s in biology and chemistry from Montclair State University with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was named Valedictorian with the highest major GPA in the College of Mathematics and Sciences. He earned his MD from Rutgers Medical School through the BS/MD program, earning a High Pass distinction. He then trained in internal medicine at Pennsylvania State University in Hershey Park. 

Following this, Dr. Salcedo worked at Veterans Affairs, where some of his research efforts focused on pulmonary rehabilitation in war veterans and on understanding the causal factors of hypotensive shock. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including Critical Care Medicine, Academic Medicine, and JAMA Internal Medicine. Dr. Salcedo presented his most recent publication in JAMA Internal Medicine at the University of San Diego and the University of Mississippi, and he will present it at the annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology in Denver.

Dr. Salcedo has served as a mentor and student advisor for the Health Careers Program at Montclair State, the Northeast Regional Alliance MedPrep Scholars Program at Rutgers, and the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He has six years of research mentorship experience and expertise as a Principal Investigator and Lead Author. Dr. Salcedo has led students through the research process in multiple disciplines, including biochemistry, chemistry, computational biology, epidemiology, molecular biology, pharmacology, physiology, and integrative biology.

As a first-generation Hispanic-American, Dr. Salcedo provides a specialized perspective on the research mentorship process. He is passionate about accessibility and ensuring the process is easy to navigate for every student he works with. He firmly believes in the power of hard work and determination, and thoroughly enjoys helping students from all backgrounds explore their interests and passions.
