To become a more attractive applicant to BS/MD and prestigious pre-med programs, Jake overloaded his course schedule with AP classes. While he performed well in almost all of them (including AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Biology), a lower GPA in one class brought down his cumulative total. Jake and his parents came to us worried about his chances of acceptance, as his GPA had dropped from 4.0 to 3.7 in his junior year.
We worked with Jake to learn more about his dreams, goals, background, and interests beyond his GPA and near-perfect ACT score. Ivy League admissions committees expect more than just academic excellence—they want to admit students who will become future leaders. We helped Jake delve deeply into his leadership roles, including president of his high school’s STEM club, animal shelter volunteer, and Eagle Scout status. We helped Jake translate his experiences into his essays and activities list to demonstrate his fit for any pre-med program.
Jake was accepted to a BS/MD program in his home state, 3 BS/DO programs, and 14 colleges. He decided that Yale University was the perfect place to start his pre-med journey!
