Thelisha earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Georgia Gwinnett College before attending the Morehouse School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. As a member of the inaugural cohort, she had the esteemed privilege of serving on the Morehouse admissions committee, mentoring PA students, interviewing applicants, and evaluating their applications. At Morehouse, she also participated in several community awareness events and served as a mentor for current PA students facing academic challenges.
Thelisha is currently practicing gastroenterology and hepatology at Wellstar Health System, a major health system in Atlanta. In her role, she trains new Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and collaborates with leadership to implement new policies. She also continues to mentor pre-PA students and current PA students, precepting them and providing them with shadowing opportunities.
Thelisha is committed to being a valuable resource for students as they navigate this complex process. She aims to provide effective strategies, assist in gaining relevant healthcare experience, and emphasize students’ talents and strengths in their applications. Her mentoring philosophy centers on open communication; she engages with students to understand their experiences, personalities, and goals, in order to tailor personalized plans for success.
As a coach, Thelisha’s greatest strength lies in her personal experience overcoming challenges, which she draws upon to provide valuable insight and strategies to strengthen student candidacy. As a double minority and first-generation medical professional, she is dedicated to helping students succeed in pursuing their dreams of becoming a PA, offering unwavering support regardless of the challenges they may encounter in navigating the process.
