Medical School: University of Virginia School of Medicine
Before attending medical school, Dr. Koskey earned a BS in human biology and a minor in creative writing from Stanford University, where she also served as an alumni interviewer. As Chief Resident during her pediatric training, she was deeply involved with resident mentorship, curriculum development, and application evaluation—this experience gives her a nuanced understanding of what distinguishes strong candidates in competitive applicant pools and how interview performance, narrative coherence, and professionalism shape outcomes. Dr. Koskey has since returned to the University of Virginia School of Medicine to serve as an assistant professor of medical education.
Dr. Koskey also currently practices as a pediatric hospitalist, caring for children across a broad spectrum of acuity while teaching and mentoring medical students and residents in clinical environments. Her educational work includes bedside teaching, small-group facilitation, curriculum development, and individualized learner coaching. In addition to her clinical and educational work, Dr. Koskey completed a Digital Health and AI Fellowship, where her work focused on the application of artificial intelligence to medical education, clinical decision support, and clinician learning. Within her clinical group, she leads initiatives in AI education and literacy, helping clinicians critically engage with emerging technologies and integrate them thoughtfully into practice and training.
Dr. Kosey’s professional interests center on medical education, clinical reasoning, and the responsible integration of technology into healthcare training. She has contributed to institutional educational initiatives, resident and student teaching programs, and invited discussions on learner development, innovation in medical education, and the future of clinician training. Her academic interests also include narrative medicine and palliative care, which inform her approach to teaching, mentorship, and coaching by emphasizing reflection, meaning-making, and compassionate communication.
As an admissions coach, Dr. Koskey brings a combination of frontline clinical practice and deep insight into how applicants are evaluated, allowing her to coach candidates with rigor and empathy. She’s known for her ability to translate opaque evaluation processes into clear, actionable guidance. Her perspective is grounded in firsthand experience as a medical school admissions interviewer, a Chief Resident, and a faculty member. Dr. Koskey excels at helping applicants identify and articulate their core narrative, particularly those with non-traditional paths or complex career trajectories. She is especially effective in guiding students through high-pressure moments, such as interviews, waitlists, and reapplications, where calm, strategic, and honest coaching can be transformative. Her goal is always to help applicants move from being accomplished on paper to being memorable, grounded, and confident.
Dr. Kosey’s coaching philosophy is strategic, structured, and deeply human. She believes the strongest applications are built at the intersection of insight and execution. She works closely with applicants to clarify their motivations, align experiences with long-term goals, and communicate impact with authenticity and precision. Her approach to interview preparation prioritizes presence, adaptability, and self-awareness rather than rigid scripting. She is direct but supportive, candid without being discouraging, and deeply invested in helping applicants present their best and most authentic selves.
Dr. Koskey is passionate about coaching because she has witnessed how transformative the right guidance can be and how confusing and inequitable the admissions process often feels from the applicant's side. As a physician and educator, she believes the future of medicine depends on thoughtful, reflective, and diverse clinicians. Helping applicants articulate their stories, claim their strengths, and navigate competitive environments with clarity and confidence is one of the most meaningful ways she contributes to shaping that future.
