Dr. Emily Reeson, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Reeson graduated with an MD from Creighton University School of Medicine–Phoenix, where she served on the admissions committee for four years. As an admissions committee member, Dr. Reeson reviewed 200+ applications, conducted interviews, and advised on admissions. Now an orthopedic surgery resident at Rush University Medical Center, Dr. Reeson uses her strong background in academics, admissions, and research to help applicants approach the med school application process with confidence.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Reeson graduated summa cum laude with a BS in neuroscience and a departmental award for exceptional performance from Creighton University. She was awarded the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship by the Creighton University Chemistry Department and was elected into Alpha Sigma Nu and the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She received numerous awards in medical school, including the Creighton University School of Medicine Academic Merit Scholarship, the Medical Dean’s Magis Scholarship Award, and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society Medical Student Scholarship Award.

During medical school, Dr. Reeson collaborated with Arizona State University’s School of Biomedical Engineering on the development of novel synthetic meniscus materials and has since authored several publications and received research awards, including First-Place Poster at the Association of Women Surgeons Southwest Regional Conference. Her research has been published in multiple prestigious journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Journal of Urology, the American Journal of Surgery, and others.

Dr. Reeson understands the challenges of the medical school application process. Raised on a small family farm in rural Nebraska, she grew up in an environment where few pursued doctoral degrees, and guidance through the process was limited. She navigated the application process largely independently, matriculating directly into medical school upon graduation—an experience that now informs her practical, honest, and empowering mentorship style.

What sets Dr. Reeson apart as a counselor is her down-to-earth, individualized, and student-centered approach. She works closely with each student to identify their unique strengths, experiences, and motivations, helping them craft an authentic narrative that reflects who they truly are rather than what they think admissions committees want to see. She is particularly skilled at helping students organize complex experiences into a clear, compelling application story.

With four years of admissions committee experience, Dr. Reeson has used the insights she’s learned to mentor numerous students who have gone on to successfully matriculate into medical school. Students she has coached have been accepted to medical schools at Creighton University, Tufts University, Loyola Stritch, the University of Nebraska, Kansas City University, the University of Kansas, the University of Arizona, the University of Colorado, and others.

Dr. Reeson believes the medical school application process does not need to be overwhelming or anxiety-provoking. She is skilled at helping students stay organized, reduce stress, and present their most authentic selves with clarity and confidence. With a background spanning medicine, research, leadership, and mentorship, she is deeply committed to helping students navigate the path to medical school with purpose and self-assurance.
