As a resident at the University of Central Florida/HCA Lake Monroe, Dr. Flatley cares for patients with neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions and works within interdisciplinary teams to restore function and improve quality of life. In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a Resident Physician AI Trainer, collaborating with AI development teams to ensure that medical algorithms align with real-world clinical reasoning, safety, and patient care. Additionally, Dr. Flatley has contributed to multiple research projects in pain management, rehabilitation, and neurostimulation. He has also authored case reports on necrotizing autoimmune myopathy and recurrent foreign accent syndrome. His ongoing research explores multifidus neurostimulation for chronic low back pain and emerging techniques for spasticity treatment, and he has been published in Pain Management.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Flatley has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to service and mentorship through his work with Books That Heal, a nonprofit organization focused on literacy and art therapy for children. As Director of Development, he has established partnerships with hospitals and nonprofit organizations, helped shape the organization’s strategic direction, and co-authored children’s books. These experiences have strengthened his ability to communicate authentically, tell compelling stories, and connect mission-driven work to real-world impact.
Dr. Flatley’s greatest strengths as a consultant are his strategic mindset, narrative development skills, and ability to meet applicants exactly where they are. He excels at helping students clarify their motivations, translate their experiences into cohesive application narratives, and approach interviews with confidence and authenticity. His experience conducting residency interviews allows him to provide students with an insider’s perspective on the application process and what makes a successful candidate. Dr. Flatley ensures every coaching session is flexible and tailored to each student’s needs. He focuses on creating an environment that fosters growth while clearly outlining the most effective path forward for success.
While Dr. Flatley is committed to supporting all applicants, he is especially passionate about coaching those who may not fit the “typical” applicant mold. Understanding how overwhelming the admissions process can feel without proper mentorship, he’s dedicated to providing BS/MD applicants with clarity, transparency, and individualized guidance.
