Dr. Ajith Malige, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Malige is an orthopedic surgeon and partner at Advanced Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He graduated with a BS from the University of California, San Diego, before earning an MD from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at St. Luke’s University Health Network, where he served as Chief Resident and admissions committee member for the program, evaluating and interviewing applicants.

Dr. Malige’s combined love of biomechanics and sports inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. Following residency, he pursued a prestigious sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles, training under world-renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache. During his time there, he served as an assistant team physician for multiple professional and collegiate athletic organizations, including the Los Angeles Rams, Angels, Dodgers, Galaxy, and the Anaheim Ducks, as well as Pepperdine University athletics.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Malige has authored over 50 publications and book chapters on topics including shoulder arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, throwing elbow injuries, and biologic treatments. Dr. Malige has also given lectures and presentations at numerous national orthopedic conferences, and his work has been recognized nationally, earning him multiple research grants and awards, including the prestigious Charles Neer Award for excellence in shoulder and elbow research. He also serves on the editorial boards for Arthroscopy, the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders. Additionally, Dr. Malige also serves on multiple hospital, local, and national medical and orthopedic committees.

Dr. Malige has worked with numerous students on their journey to medical school. As an admissions coach, he draws on his experience serving on the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Admissions Committee at St. Luke’s University Health Network and his past work as a counselor to help students reach their goals. Students who Dr. Malige has coached have been accepted to multiple medical schools and orthopedic residency programs across the country, from New Jersey to California.

Dr. Malige’s coaching philosophy centers around individualizing each student’s strategy. He highlights their strengths and creates a plan to improve their weaknesses. He believes each student’s story is unique, and it is important to find the most effective way to place each student in the spotlight. Finally, he does all this while maintaining flexibility, establishing a schedule that meets the busy schedule of each applicant.
