Director of Advising

Dr. Nwankwo is a dermatology resident physician at New York University who graduated from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine’s (UMKC) accelerated six-year BA/MD program. She served as a UMKC School of Medicine admissions interviewer and mentor through organizations such as Students in Training, in Academia, Health and Research, and the Dream Big Initiative, which she co-founded.

Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine

Dr. Tran is an adult primary care physician working in private practice based in Irvine, California. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a BS in molecular, cell, and developmental biology with cum laude honors before earning an MD from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Zarif is a board-certified surgeon specializing in the management of traumatic, sports-related, and degenerative conditions of the hand and wrist. He completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital Surgery. He has 15 years of coaching and admissions experience and has served on several admissions committees, including the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the diversity and inclusion initiative at Temple University, and Lenox Hill Hospital-Northwell’s residency admissions committee.

Director of Advising

Dr. Painter graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Richmond before earning an MD from Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. He is a transitional year resident physician in the St. Clair Health Graduate Medical Education Program, part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, and will complete a categorical diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Painter has 12 years of admissions experience, including serving as an interviewer at St. Clair Health.

Dr. Wu graduated with an MD from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of California, San Diego. He served as an application reviewer and admissions ambassador at UC Irvine during medical school, and as a UCSD Anesthesiology program interviewer during residency. Today, Dr. Wu serves as Assistant Chief of Anesthesia, Medical Director of Outpatient Surgery, and Director of Procedural Sedation at Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa.

Dr. Patel is a neurology resident in the Adult Neurology Department at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Northshore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ). As a former Associate Program Director for Carney Hospital's family medicine residency, she was deeply involved in reviewing and selecting residency applicants.

Director of Advising

Dr. Khan earned an MD from Ross University School of Medicine and is the Associate Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. She completed her family medicine residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School before advancing to a competitive fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where she trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries in athletes and active individuals.

Yale School of Medicine

Dr. Chang is a gynecologic oncology fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where she cares for patients with female reproductive system cancers. She graduated with an MD from Yale School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Chang served on the Yale New Haven Hospital OB/GYN residency admissions committee and received multiple teaching awards, including the prestigious Meehan-Miller Award for Academic Excellence.

Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell

Dr. Lee is an anesthesiology resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. He earned his MD from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where he served on the admissions committee and as an interviewer for the MD program and BS/MD Combined 4+4 program. Dr. Blutinger is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and public health specialist with over a decade of clinical experience. He was a former admissions committee member at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he read and evaluated approximately 1,000 applications and interviewed nearly 300 candidates over three years. He currently works in Mount Sinai Health System as an attending physician and Emergency Department Medical Director.

University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School

Dr. Manghis is an internal medicine resident at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She earned an MD from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She has years of coaching experience, helping students get into medical schools such as Duke University, the University of Massachusetts, the University of Washington, and Brown University.

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Dr. Oyewole is a physician, educator, and admissions advisor with years of medical education and mentorship experience. He graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine (ISMMS), where he served on the admissions committee as an application screener and interviewer. Dr. Saltzberg is an emergency medicine physician and educator with over 40 years of clinical, medical education, and admissions experience. He has also served as an undergraduate pre-med advisor at Northwestern University.
