Before medical school, Dr. Cook graduated with a BA in biology from Johns Hopkins University. He was a member of the varsity track and field team and served as a resource coordinator and summer fellow with Health Leads, a non-profit organization at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center dedicated to connecting underserved patients with essential community resources. After completing his undergraduate degree, he entered the Drexel Pathway to Medical School (DPMS) Program, earning early assurance into the MD program. During medical school, Dr. Cook conducted clinical research at Massachusetts General Hospital, contributing to orthopedic oncology studies through the hospital's Department of Orthopedic Surgery—he co-authored peer-reviewed research published in the Journal of Surgical Oncology. He also reviewed, studied, and published research on residency applications.
Dr. Cook completed his internal medicine residency at Morehouse School of Medicine, where he honed his expertise in managing both routine and complex medical conditions across diverse patient populations. His training emphasized rigorous clinical practice and care for underserved communities, further strengthening his commitment to equitable, evidence-based medicine. During his residency, Dr. Cook contributed to national healthcare discussions, including appearances before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). He was personally called upon by Bernie Sanders to provide clinical insight, reflecting recognition of his frontline experience and perspective on healthcare delivery.
Today, Dr. Cook works as a hospitalist attending physician at Sanford Health. Over the course of his training and career, he has demonstrated strong clinical acumen and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure. His approach emphasizes evidence-based medicine, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a patient-first philosophy. His strengths in analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure translate directly into his work as an admissions coach.
