Dr. Kamath completed her internal medicine residency training at Summa Health System before spending three years in the Allegheny Health Network Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. After completing her fellowship, she pursued an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA. Dr. Kamath also pursued additional training through the Harvard Macy Institute and the Keck Graduate Institute.
Dr. Kamath is a nationally recognized academic physician, educator, and mentor who has dedicated her career to shaping the next generation of physicians. She currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist at UCLA Health. With training from multiple elite institutions, she brings a rare combination of clinical excellence, educational leadership, and deep insight into the medical training pathway. She has led multidisciplinary programs in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology while teaching and mentoring learners at every stage of their journey.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Kamath has guided hundreds of students, trainees, and early career professionals through some of the most competitive admissions and career transitions in medicine. Students who have worked with Dr. Kamath have earned acceptances to top BS/MD programs, elite universities, and medical schools, including UCLA, UCSF, UCSD, Stanford
UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Case Reserve, Mount Sinai. She has also guided students to acceptance into programs at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Kamath is known for her ability to translate complex achievements into compelling narratives, helping students articulate their purpose, leadership, and intellectual curiosity with clarity and confidence. Many students and families often describe her as warm, strategic, and deeply invested in each student's success. She brings a data-driven, personalized approach to mentorship, drawing on her experience designing curricula, leading research initiatives, and mentoring trainees in high-stakes academic environments. She has been honored with multiple awards for teaching, mentorship, and caring, including the Medical Student Geriatrics Award, AAPI Physician Travel Grant Award, AHA Early Career Blogger recognition, and Super Doctors Rising Star recognition, reflecting her impact as both an educator and advocate for learners.
