Undergrad: University of Maryland
Medical School: Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Chiplunkar’s passion for mentorship began during his gap year, when he worked as a tutor and discovered how rewarding it was to help students build confidence and reach their goals. He later served as an admissions counselor for pre-medical students at the University of Maryland, reviewing personal statements, conducting mock interviews, and providing individualized application feedback. During medical school, he continued this work by co-founding an Osteopathic Mentoring Program that connects medical students with undergraduate pre-med students.
Throughout his training, Dr. Chiplunkar has been actively involved in research, leadership, and medical education. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in pain medicine and rehabilitation and presented his research at national medical conferences. His research has been published in numerous journals, including Cureus, Pain Medicine Case Reports, and Frontiers in Rehabilitation Science. He has also delivered numerous podium and poster presentations at many annual meetings and assemblies, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Annual Assembly, the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP) Annual Meeting, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Annual Meeting, among others.
As a medical student, Dr. Chiplunkar was awarded the Osteopathic Medical Student Grant. Now at NYU Langone, he has founded an inpatient injection consultation service at Bellevue Hospital and a resident-led Pain Medicine Journal Club, reflecting his commitment to improving patient care and advancing medical education.
Having personally navigated medical school admissions, residency applications, and now fellowship applications, Dr. Chiplunkar brings an insightful perspective on what it takes to move through each stage of medical training. He understands the challenges of writing a strong personal statement, preparing for interviews, and presenting an application that reads like an authentic story rather than a list of accomplishments.
Dr. Chiplunkar’s coaching style is approachable, collaborative, and tailored to each student's strengths. He enjoys getting to know applicants beyond their grades and extracurricular activities, helping them identify meaningful experiences and communicate what makes them unique. Having experienced the value of mentorship, Dr. Chiplunkar hopes to be the kind of advisor who makes an overwhelming process feel more manageable and even enjoyable. His goal is to help students approach their applications with confidence, authenticity, and excitement for the next chapter of their careers.
