As an admissions counselor, Dr. Purrinos brings a unique insider perspective to admissions advising, having served on the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine admissions committee, where he reviewed applications and interviewed prospective students. Through this experience, he gained firsthand insight into how competitive applicants are evaluated and what distinguishes those who ultimately earn acceptance. He pairs this knowledge with years of mentorship experience supporting pre-medical and medical students from diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Purrinos specializes in helping students transform strong experiences into cohesive, compelling personal narratives. His coaching style is strategic, honest, and highly individualized, combining clear structure with a supportive encouragement. He works closely with students to identify their unique strengths, address weaknesses early, and build a thoughtful roadmap from application preparation through interview season. Dr. Purrinos is particularly skilled in personal statement development, interview preparation, and helping applicants position their research, service, and life experiences in a way that resonates with admissions committees.
Having navigated the competitive path to medicine as a first-generation medical student, Dr. Purrinos understands how confusing the process can feel without strong mentorship. Now, having evaluated candidates from the admissions side, he is committed to making the journey more transparent, strategic, and far less overwhelming so that applicants never have to navigate it alone. His goal is not only to help students gain acceptance but also help them develop the confidence, clarity, and direction needed to thrive as future physicians.
