‍Challenge:

Sandra wanted to ensure she’d have enough direct patient hours and clinical experience for PA school. She also noticed that her science GPA dipped to 3.5 after her first semester of college. Sandra wanted to become the most competitive PA school applicant possible and needed help applying for clinical experience opportunities.

How We Helped:

Reviewed Sandra’s full college transcript and identified her struggles with introductory physics

Helped Sandra create a plan to raise her science GPA while ensuring she would take all PA school course requirements before applying

Provided 1:1 private GRE tutoring that helped Sandra bridge weaknesses in the Verbal Reasoning section and achieve a 320+ score

Designed an extracurricular plan centered on pursuing meaningful clinical and leadership experiences

Helped Sandra secure employment as a medical scribe at UCSF, and volunteer medical assistant and the San Francisco Community Clinic

Advised Sandra on which on-campus activities would suit her interests, leading to her becoming the Vice President of the UCSF Pre-PA Society

Identified various physician assistant shadowing opportunities and helped Sandra develop a cold call strategy to shadow cardiothoracic and emergency medicine PAs

Enrolled Sandra in the Inspira Advantage Research and Publication program, leading to her research being published in the Journal of Biosciences

We conducted an in-depth persona assessment, finding over 20 key takeaways about Alison’s involvement in activities and extracurriculars

Tutored Alison for her upcoming GRE test date, helping her work through Quantitative Reasoning questions

Discovered gaps in her clinical and shadowing experiences and worked with her to create a plan that would showcase her interest and commitment to medicine

Helped Alison network with physician assistants at the Austin Medical Center, leading her to shadowing opportunities

Reworked Alison’s resume to help her pursue a medical assistantship position at Texas Digestive Diseases Consultants

Helped Alison make a plan to gain more clinical experience before PA school, including working as a volunteer clinical assistant intern at an allergy & asthma clinic
