Medical School: Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Originally from Princeton, New Jersey, Viviane graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with dual BA degrees in molecular biology & biochemistry and nutritional sciences. Her undergraduate thesis research on the effects of the gut microbiome on mitochondria earned her the prestigious Henry Rutgers Scholar Award.
As the head teaching intern at the Rutgers Chemistry Department, Viviane oversaw 50 teaching interns and hosted four interactive review sessions per semester for 1,000+ students. She was also on the Research Advisory Board for Douglass Project SUPER Research Program, mentoring younger women at Douglass College through their first experiences in scientific research.
Viviane's commitment to community service was evident in her role as a volunteer EMT and as the founder of the Rutgers chapter of Alzheimer's Buddies. This program pairs college students with Alzheimer's patients to build strong, longitudinal relationships and reduce social isolation. She also participated in Club Gymnastics and volunteered to teach nutrition and fitness lessons to underserved youth.
Viviane is pursuing her interest in dermatology through research on the skin microbiome in chronic itch conditions. She is also involved in research to improve access to healthy foods in Baltimore, demonstrating her continued commitment to nutrition and public health.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Viviane remains dedicated to mentorship and education. She serves as a peer advisor and teaches students about nutrition through the Teaching Kitchen program. Viviane also finds time for creative expression as a member of the Hopkins Med Dance Collective.
Viviane's diverse experiences in teaching, research, and community service make her an ideal mentor for pre-medical students navigating the application process. She is committed to helping applicants from all backgrounds identify their strengths and build the confidence to pursue their dream medical careers. Her approach aims to demystify the application process and reduce the stress often associated with it.
