Throughout her academic journey, Lois has been a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, serving on various committees to improve the climate for underrepresented and marginalized groups. In high school, she was a track and field athlete but also spent a large time competitively speaking as a poetry interpreter, extemporaneous speaker, and debater at Texas University Interscholastic League competitions. As an Honors student in the Polymathic Scholars Program, Lois researched how undergraduate institutions can use video games to support student learning.

Benjamin (Benji) has a strong background in teaching, tutoring, and guiding students through the medical school application process. As part of the connection program at UTSW, he helped pre-med students at different Texas colleges work through their applications. Benji's passion for inspiring and guiding the next generation of medical professionals is evident through his extensive involvement in mentoring and volunteering activities. He has worked with students at various stages of their educational journey, from middle school to college and beyond, through programs such as Future Doctor Pathways, UTSW Stars Program, and Campus Tours.
