Fun Fact
Jonathan has a 6-month-old Chihuahua puppy named Milo. He (Jonathan, not Milo) is a competitive powerlifter with a squat-bench-deadlift total of over a thousand pounds. He also enjoys mixed martial arts and has a black belt in Karate.
Jonathan earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Tufts University, where he served as the Head Biochemistry Tutor. He is now a Clinical Research Coordinator at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and has co-authored multiple manuscripts and abstracts. He will be matriculating at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine and looks forward to exploring interests in family medicine, psychiatry, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and neurology.
Jonathan's love for science began early in life, as he was fascinated by everything from fundamental physics to tropical ecology. His passion for medicine was ignited during his junior year of college when his mother was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, and he shadowed a pediatric geneticist.
Jonathan's dedication to self-improvement led to a 100th percentile score of 526 on the MCAT, including a 132 on the CARS section. He researched the ins and outs of the test and designed his comprehensive study plan. In addition to mastering the balance between content review and practice using traditional study materials, he became an expert at using spaced repetition, nutrition, exercise, meditation, visualization, and testing conditions to sustain his hard work and optimize his score. This deep dive also led to a desire to share his expertise and help others achieve their best MCAT score.
He believes many people are accidentally 'leaving points on the table,’ so to speak, by studying inefficiently and neglecting to support the body alongside the mind when preparing for the MCAT, which is an all-day endurance event. Jonathan’s holistic, friendly approach to tutoring is highly personalized and focuses on efficient studying and strategic self-care, leading to higher scores with smaller, yet more deliberate, efforts. Crucially, it also makes studying a whole lot more fun—as it can and should be if we are to enjoy our lives during this long path full of learning and testing!

Medical school - UT Southwestern Medical Center
Undergrad - University of Kansas
Fun Fact
I was the ranked as the fourth-best pole vaulter in the state of Kansas when I was a senior in high school.
Joseph grew up in a small town in Kansas, where he was the only student from his graduating class of ~70 to “make the leap” to a legitimate, 4-year university.
Four years later: Joseph graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Neurobiology, addended with an awkwardly long list of honors. For instance, he received the annual award recognizing the biology department’s top student in his junior and senior years, per faculty consensus. In addition, he was also honored with more than a handful of semi-redundant accolades for “excellence in biomedical research.” Outside of the biology department, Joseph was named as 1 of 20 University Scholars in my graduating class of >5,000 students. Concurrently, he worked jobs as a teaching assistant in biochemistry and physiology courses and played an integral role in establishing a pre-med advisor faculty position within the university’s honors program. Joseph also published a first-author study elucidating the molecular mechanism underlying a phenomenon of paradoxically prolonged vasoconstriction largely responsible for downstream infarctions secondary to vascular insult.
Three months after graduating from KU, he began medical school at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. This is where Joseph felt he really refined a lot of the studying and test-taking strategies he expects to explore en route to masterminding an individualized game plan with every nuance uniquely dedicated to identifying and exploiting the challenges (aka, opportunities) wedged between you and your full potential- which, in his experience, frequently exceeds students’ initial goals.
He has also been an MCAT tutor for three years, helping hundreds of students crush the overly lengthy exam and, ultimately, get into medical school. These years of MCAT tutoring have uniquely positioned him to guide future physicians along what is ubiquitously regarded as the most treacherous segment on the truly lifelong journey of medical education.

He enjoys serving as the mentor he wished he had during his own journey. He also finds a profound sense of fulfillment in helping others in their own journeys.
What sets Dr. Rodriguez’s approach apart as a consultant is his personalized approach. He holds a deep belief that individuality is key to getting into medical school and becoming a successful physician. He works with a small handful of students at a time, devoting personalized attention, dedicating time to truly get to know them as individuals, and discovering what makes them unique. He then goes on to help students craft tailored plans, build strong narratives, and hone their interview skills.
Each session with Dr. Rodriguez is focused on clear goals while remaining adaptable to changing circumstances. He allows students to guide the conversation by choosing the areas they wish to explore, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and guidance to address their questions. His journey and passion place him in the unique position to serve as a motivational mentor and guide to the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Rodriguez has a passion for emergency medicine, a field which he views not only as the front lines of medicine but also a diverse field where one must constantly be vigilant for their patients.
